Hi everybody...while I know tons and tons about WDW, this will be the first visit to DL for me, DD19 and DS15. We are super excited, but a little leary about the time we are going Apr. 5-11, as we know it will be crazy-busy. For those of you DL experts, when are you able to make reservations for the restaurants at DL? Do you have a number to call? Can you make reservations for the restaurants at Downtown Disney, i.e. Rainforest Cafe?
Any information or advice on what's delicious and not to be missed would be greatly appreciated! (We are staying at DLR)

If you want to make reservations they start taking them 60 days prior to your trip. If you want to make reservations for the Rainforest cafe you dont make reservations directly through Disney.

Call Disney for Park reservations or for Disneyland Resort character Dining at (714) 781-3463

Rainforest Cafe (714) 772-0413

I could be totally wrong, as I'm a fairly new-to-Disneyland-girl myself, buuuut...
I believe you can start making PS (preferred seating...not exactly reservations, but pretty close) up to 60 days in advance of your date you want to dine.

Also, I think the DL dining # is 714-781-3463--which covers all restaurants except Rainforest Cafe--which handles their own reses and so you call them directly...714-956-5260

I called RFC directly for our PS and also called the DL dining number for our PS for Blue Bayou...we're going 3/15 and 3/16 respectively, and I called for BB and RFC about 2 weeks ago and also called for Cafe Orleans (DLdining #) a few days ago...and they accepted all of my PS requests (so all were made about 50 days out or so...)

HTH! :flower3:

You're absolutely right with your post. :)

Priority Seating at DLR seems not that essential as it is at WDW.

We even got a PS for Goofy's Kitchen for the morning we called in when we had to switch our plans one day, and also one for a Sunday night that seemed really busy when we called in about an hour beforehand.

P.S. is not the same thing as having a reservation, hence "Priority Seating"
It is always a good idea to make a p.s However, one can always try their luck and just walk up to X restaurant.
It is very possible, to be able to make a p.s. the same day, or one or two days out. The sooner the better though.

Just curious is there a 1 800 # I can call to make PS for Goofy's Kitchen and Minnie & friends??? Am I correct to say PS and not Res?

There is no 800#, just the # given above.

Yes, they are called Priority Seating (or PS's), not reservations, but if you say either, they will know what you mean.

As a PP said, it is not the same craziness as ADRs at WDW, but you would be wise to make a PS with a few DL restaurants (like the Blue Bayou). You can always cancel if you don't need them. :goodvibes

If in doubt, make the ps reservations. We were at DL on Monday picking up my "fun card" and decided to have dinner around 6 somewhere (park closed at 8). Walked up to Cafe Orleans as a walk in and put our name in, only had to wait 10 minutes. HOWEVER, as we were going in they stopped taking walk ins. There were a few ps folks that came in after us. But all the walk ups were turned away at 6:10ish. If you are in the parks on an early closing day, make those ps just in case.
