Has anyone used the advanced check in service at gatwick. We plan to use it when we go at the end of oct. How much time does it save? It there a large line as this would defeat the object? Also, would it be possible to check in my kids cars seats and then keep them until the next morning so I can use the to get back to the airport from the hotel?

Just subbing - am interested in doing this myself in October. . . have just realised we are flying from Heathrow though as going to NY first - arghhh! Does anyone know if they do it at Heathrow as well? :goodvibes

We have used the early check in at Gatwick the last 3 times we have been to Florida. We normally get there 1-2 hours after it opens and either walked straight up to the desk or had one person in front of us.

Walking past the long line the following day makes you glad you made the effort to get there a day early!

Using it again in 3 weeks time so hopefully it is the same. Also use check-in at Downtown Disney on the way back.

I don't think Heathrow has early check-in.

We flew from Gatwick with Virgin, last September, we did twilight check in. It was fab, we were out of there in no time as there was only one person in front of us.....it also meant we didn't need to get to the airport so early the next day.

twilight check-in is perfect, we have never been in a line, and generally in and out of the terminal in about 15 minutes!

as for the car seats - are you driving your own car back to the hotel or are you getting courtesy bus or taxi? If its a taxi (I think taxi is the same) or bus you dont need your car seats and the kids can sit on your lap for that quick transfer.

Otherwise you could hold the car seats back and bag check them the next morning.

Do you mean the Twilight or the online checkin? Twilight is fab we use it every year. Yes it saves time as the queues the next morning are always long. You may be able to check the car seats at the gate ( with the pushchair) but I would check with virgin. The down side to this would be you would be carrying the car seats through the airport. We have got round this by staying at the Gatwick Hilton. This year we have bought a Trunki Boost-a-pack for DD5 and will hire one car seat in orlando for DS3.

P.S. When are you going? we fly on the 26th October! (Travelling from Llanelli)
