Advance purchase $149, worth it?

I pre-ordered PP+ for our last trip and it ended up being a good deal for us, but that was mostly because of MNSSHP and the fact that we were traveling with a big group of friends who we likely won't have all together at WDW again. It definitely won't be an every trip purchase for us. If I had kids, I would probably get it more often.

I have a bunch questions about memory maker. Will one advance purchase memory maker cover our entire group? There are 6 of us on the same reservation, my parents, my wife, and our 2 kids, 8 and 4. I've never been big on photo packages or theme park photographers in the past but if we can all use one memory maker this seems like a good deal! We would each only have to find 2 pictures from the whole week we wanted to buy to be ahead financially. Will it read my band for a ride photo and scan grandma's band or the kids band for a meet and greet if we split up?

We have two character meals reserved. Breakfast at Tusker house and diner in Norway(Asker... Whatever it is). I thought I read that a picture is included at dinner with the greeting princess, but the picture with Donald at Tusker was sold separately. Would these pictures also be included on the memory maker?

Do I access the photos through my Disney experience or is there a separate page I download them from?

How long do the photos stay on Disney's server?

What's the resolution of the photos?

Thanks in advance for any help or info you can share!

We bought it 2 trips ago and ended up with 400-500 pictures. We did meet characters and I think we stopped at every photographer we saw to get our money's worth. The last trip we did not purchase and with the exception of the couple of pictures I took with a character all pictures of me are selfies. I liked not hunting down photographers but may get it this next trip because we have first timers going with us and would like to have some ride photos.

Q: How long can I capture photos with my Memory Maker entitlement?

A: You can begin capturing photos as soon as you purchase Memory Maker. Please not that if Memory Maker was purchased at the advanced purchase price, photos taken within 3 days of the date of purchase will not be included in Memory Maker and must be purchased separately.

Q: Can my Memory Maker entitlement include my travel party’s photos?

A: Absolutely! If other guests choose to share their photos taken during your Memory Maker window with you through My Disney Experience Family & Friends, you will have the ability to download those photos (photo sharing rules subject to change.)

We prepurchased MM for our trip last week. We were a bit dubious about spending that much money, wondering if it would be worth the expense. Well, I am SO GLAD that we did it! We ended up with close to 200 pictures in our 6 days there and they are priceless to me. it's not often that we get shots of us all together, and now we have tons of them. Then there are the ride photos....I would never have paid $15 apiece for them, but I'm glad we have those, as well. I also love the fact that you can download the photos as many times as you like during the allowed time frame. I have downloaded the originals, and as I add borders and stuff, I download new copies.

I have seen others complain about the quality of the photos, but with few exceptions, ours are wonderful! It was well worth the money....preserving precious memories with my hubby and kids.

I didn't see this answer in the link provided.

If you buy Memory maker do you also have to pay to load the pictures?

Do they give you a reciept to show that the pics aren't copyrighted? My developer gives me a hard time without a copyright release.

To load the pictures where? When you buy the Memory Maker, you're buying the right to download all the pictures, that's what you're paying for. It does come with a copyright release.

Does anybody know how far you can purchase it in advance if you're doing the 'will call' option for delivery? Since we're in the UK it would cost $25 for international shipping. We're not going to be in WDW until April 25th.

You don't need to do anything. The package can be linked to your entire groups magic band. You can customize your band & either pick it up at your resort or ship to your house. I linked my photo pass (pre pay) to my band. I called & com said that will link it to my entire group. So nothing to pick up/ship

Glad to see this thread as I was wondering too...We have always done PP in the past and I really thought I wouldn't do it this time since the increase in price...but now with the ride photos I'm considering it. We have never done the ride photos before so I'm curious, do you just walk up to that counter and have them scan your magicband or how do those get uploaded to your MM+?

Thanks!

We did it in September before they linked the magic bands to it, but I'm sure it's pretty much the same. Just write down (or take a picture of) the picture numbers, take it to the counter, and they will add it. We rode Space Mountain several times in a row and would just save them up and do it all at once.

On a side note, DS8 decided this was an excellent way to keep track of how many times he rode it and would hold up fingers for the number in each shot. It makes for an adorable scrapbook page :)

Can I still just get a regular Photo Pass upon arrival at my first park (at first picture taking opp) and use it for my trip? And then view/buy them upon returning home?

I really don't know if we will buy enough pictures to justify the $150. But there may be a few ride pictures or characters meetings that can be caught on the PhotoPass and viewed or purchased later.

Is that still an option?

Thank you, we are staying offsite though and already have our Magic Your Way tickets so nervous about pre-paying and getting there and not being able to use it lol

I'll chime in.... I think they still have PP regular, but by "a few ride pictures or character meetings".... I think you will be pretty close to making it worth the $150. Ride SPace. Mountain, Test Track, Buzz, Splash Mtn and Everest once and then add 3 characters and you are nearly there. And if you ride one of those rides twice or any of the others with pictures.... Well, then it is certainly worth it.

We did it last trip and loved it! If it were not for the Disney photographers I would not be in my own family Xmas card!

We did it, and we were very glad that we did. But we are into character dinners, meeting characters, magic shots etc.
Same here. We're a family of two. If I was to rely on my mom to handle my DSLR I wouldn't be in any of our Disney pictures! We really like that photographers are available everywhere and at all M&G and character meals. Plus the magic shots are pretty neat and a cool memento of our time there.

It's worth every penny to me just because it means I'm in photos! I am ALWAYS the one behind the camera so just for a few days I get some proof that I am part of our family!!:lmao:

Exactly!

My pictures are my most treasured Disney souvenirs! :thumbsup2

Then all you need to do is pick up a photopass card & it will work the same.

I am debating this for our march trip. I know you can download it to your mobile device or to your own computer to make prints, etc. Are there different resolutions--in other words, is it a low-res photo for mobile and a higher-res for your prints, etc? I had also read somewhere that at the meals now, you get the photo on your online memory maker, but you do not get that print without paying for it. Is the true? Just wondering about others' experiences! Thanks!
