Last time we cruised on the Magic (Oct 2000) we couldn't book our shore excursions until we were onboard.
I now see folks here talking about booking 60 days in advance,
( sounds like PS at the parks).

IS this the case ?

Being in the UK we don't normally get our cruise documents until two weeks before we sail.
Guess I may be running up a nice transatlantic phone bill :D

I would book as far in advance as you can. Some of the popular excursions sell out quickly, so if there is something you really want to do, I would try to reserve it.

Dave,
Yes it's true that you can book your excursions 60 days in advance (once DCL receives your payment in full) You can look up the excursions on www.disney.com and decide what ones you want to do even before you get your documents, then you can book then via email on the website or there is a toll free # you can call that is listed on the website (I called the number).

So this way you don’t have to make any long distance calls and you can book them even before your documents arrive!

I personaly like this better then having to wait until you are on the ship because with Palo and Spa ressies I don't want to have to work the excursion ressies in too!!

They introduced advance excursion booking as a trial on the Wonder last Summer. The trial was a success so they introduced it on the Magic last Fall.

Do It. Do It. Do It.

We booked ours via fax within 1-2 days after getting the excursion documents in the mail. We had confirmation faxed back to us WITHIN 6 HOURS!!!

By the time we sailed, at least half of all the excursions had been filled (and ALL of the really expensive, fun ones ;) ;) ;) )

Thanks guys, I've set up a big note to remind me the day to call and get things booked.

On one hand I think its a little unfair on those that don't read these boards to find such info, but then again having played the split the family up for spa/ Palo/ kids club and excursion bookings ( and having to shout at each other over our radios as they suddenly changes the ship itinery due t weather) anything to make life easier :D

Although I knew about the early booking from these boards, my TA also told me about it when I paid my final bill.

I would think that would be the case, that whomever you booked through should tell you about the excursions. But of course my TA could be the exception!
