Adults weekend

Looking for some opinions for an adults only, no kids...no park tickets weekend. Some friends of ours (DVC owners as well....actually learned of DVC because of them) asked us about our Sept 3 day weekend trip. They thought we were crazy and spent a fortune on airfare for just 3 days. Well, I showed them how they could get roundtrip airfare with Spirit in January for under $100 per person and boom.....the 4 us are now on a spontaneous trip for late January. We have 2 studios for Friday night at Beach Club (available magically appeared this afternoon) and we have Saturday night at Boardwalk. We fly home late night Sunday.

So now the advice part. Since no kids (kind of a first for both them and us) and no parks.....it's going to be a relaxing food/drink/pool weekend. Looking for good tips on any of the restaurants around the resorts that anyone on a short weekend would recommend or maybe any other activities. We are from NJ so we are excited to get out of the cold January to warm sunny Florida for a weekend.....especially after the winter we had last year. Not sure if we will have a rental car or not yet. Depends on how cheap I can snag one.

I suggest one night at Jell;y rolls at the boardwalk.. yes, there is a $10 cover charge per person, but what a fun night!! dueling pianos, sing a long....

I suggest a great porterhouse at Yachtsman steak house (not cheap) or maybe a steak at captain's grille.. or ribs or meatloaf at big river grille

espen club for burgers or wings, nahos, etc.

there are movies on the beach if you are interested, (campfire, somemores ..)

you can use the amenities of a resort from check in (even if your room is not ready) until midnight the next night.. so you could use the storm along bay pool for 2 whole days.. AND the luna pool for 2 days also.. I love the keister coaster slide.

You could walk around the boardwalk and pretend you are at Wild Wood.....I wish the BW had gyros, Kohr bros ice cream, and curly's fries.... lol

We just bar hop around the lake and end up wherever we find the most fun....

Ugh! You said Wildwood! We call that CHILDwood lol. For Jersey people we are not huge Jersey shore people. We actually take our beach vacations on the Outer Banks of NC :beach:

Our friends suggested the Luau at Polynesian. Something I've never done, but probably gonna cost $300 for the 4 of us. For that, I might want to look into Tables in Wonderland because I'm sure we are going to find a nice place to eat Friday night and Sunday lunch as well.

Our friends actually wanted to get a 2 br lock off at Boardwalk as it was available when she called (but not now) instead of switching rooms but the Storm along bay for both Friday and Saturday with the friday night stay had me tell her no way. I'd rather switch rooms and get SAB.....after all, it's a 3 day trip....won't have more than the free Spirit under the seat bags :rotfl2:

Jellyrolls at Boardwalk would be a good night club choice. Don't know what the new Italian restaurant at Boardwalk, Trattoria al Forno, is like but you may want to look into it. I would also consider going to Cirque and/or Hoop Dee Doo, with the Luau as a distance third choice.

Agree with above that Yachtsmans Steakhouse is good but I have basically stopped going to it because of price. It is one of the most expensive restaurants at WDW and that steak mentioned above now costs about $55 to $60 per person and that is just for the steak -- salads, soups, etc. cost extra -- and with drinks you can easily hit or exceed $100 or more a person. Another good steak house but also expensive is Schula's at Dolphin. Our favorite choice at Beach Club is the Seafood Buffet dinner at Cape May Cafe, reasonably priced for WDW, excellent food, and with the paper table clothes, you can ask for crayons and doodle away if anyone has a penchant for doing so.

Monorail Happy Hour Run is always fun. Stop at different resort lounges on the monorail and then end up having dinner at a signature where you don't find as many kids. (Citricos and California Grill for example)

Downtown Disney is another option. I think Bongo's usually has a band on Saturday nights.

Have a great time!

Blue Zoo at Dolphin is a very good restaurant choice - believe DVC members still get a 20% discount. Don't remember if they accept TiW.

Mini-golf is close by - you can walk. Discounts for AP & DVC.

Check out what might be going on at Downtown Disney - even though it's under construction, it's still fun to explore. Good food choices, too. Raglan Road, Earl of Sandwich, Paradiso37, etc. etc. Bowling at Splitsville might be fun. Also a meal while watching a movie at AMC theaters. We took the bus from BWV to DD on 12/1/2014 and the trip & waits weren't bad at all.

Also recommend a night (or two) at JellyRolls, or Cirque du Soleil.

If you enjoy sushi, the Swan has a highly reviewed restaurant that serves it.

California Grill for fireworks and the best Margaritas in WDW,and the Sushi is also great, and as Carol mentioned the Sushi @ Kimonos is also excellent. We like to walk the boardwalk in the evening.Whatever you do it will be fun.

Our go to place for the beach up north is Bethany Beach,De.

lol. I went with my parents yearly in the 70's, and then took my kids in the 90.'s a bit-- mostly for nostalgia--- definitely not a fan. I can't imagine what it is like today.

Just the slide for January. I would love the Cape may Cafe but my wife has seafood :(

I assume you meant hates. Nevertheless, Cape May is still a possible choice since it has roast beef, turkey, chicken, pizza and other non-seafood dishes for those who don't care for seafood, and if your operating on a typical budget like ours when you are at WDW, where you are "splurging," but splurging usually means a good buffet rather than a counter service restaurant, Cape May is definitely something to consider.

Yeah... Meant hates. Stupid phone. We stayed at beach club for 5 nights last July and I soon wanted to eat there. Every time we walked passed it going to SAB I could smell the crab legs... But that also was turning my wife off.

Blue Zoo or Shulas's Steakhouse are great options. TIW is accepted at both.
If you rent a car and want to venture off property take a short road trip to Winter park...great boutiques and restaurants.

In your shoes, I would check into doing Chef's Table at Flying Fish. Sounds like a lot of fun for 4 adults!

I agree with gzmt, but would say Flying Fish regardless, preceded by a cocktail or two upstairs on the balcony of Belle Vue Lounge. It's great to watch the center grassy area of Boardwalk and the lake before going to a fabulous meal at Flying Fish. This is exactly what I'll be doing the end of February!

Monorail bar crawl. Could take bus to MK or boat over to HS and bus to one of the monorail resorts and monorail around hitting the bars at each resort (including TOTWL to see Wishes).

Our flight arrives at 1:40 and I might just get the rental car if I can priceline it for the weekend. Our friends (since hey....it's their points) want to do the Luau and we get to pick the other evening. Should we do the Luau Friday night or Saturday? Monorail pub Crawl would definitely be something I'm interested in....and since I'm a TOWL fan, and our friends have never stayed at BLT or experienced it, maybe we'll end there for wishes. What's the best way back to BCV/BWV? MK bus loop? and how late do they run in case we don't get the rental.....or want to not worry about drinking/driving?
