Is this permitted? Some restaurants serve meals to large.. of course we would order our own drinks but can we share?

Yes,we have shared at many places due to large portions if we've already eaten alot That day.

In the past, when on the DDP, in order to share meals everyone needed to be using the plan. Now with the "new" rules in terms of sharing credits, I think that stipulation will be relaxed. We use the DDP every trip and tend to share periodically. WHen you decide to share, advise your server when you order and the Chef will divide the entree or appetizer in teh kitchen. The plating will be as lovely for both of you.

You cannot share DDP credits at:

Buffets
All you can eat family style restaurants
For all you can eat options like the Whispering Canyon platters
Meal packages (Candlelight Processional or Fantasmic)
Fixed price restaurants (Akershus or CRT)
Dinner shows
Via Napoli (only for dining plan guests - OOP guests can share whatever they want)

Of course I wouldn't share at a buffet...thanks
I would not need a fancy plate..just an extra plain plate would be fine.
TREX portions are huge and we get app, entrée and dessert... easily shareable

I've always shared the fried chicken at the 50's prime time. They've always brought it out as two separate plates, and gave each of us sides. It's way too much food for me, especially in the hot times of the year (which is often in Orlando!). I did it at the bar once even! They serve the full menu at the bar.

I am a bariatric surgery patient and a meal for me is 4-5 bites (sometimes less). My husband and I shared every single meal at Disney. No one batted an eye. You will be fine :thumbsup2

were you on the DDP?

No, we weren't - it would've been a total waste of money for us to use the DDP because I eat so little. Hopefully someone else can chime in on whether you can split on the DDP, if that's what you were asking about! If they don't allow it and you really do split most meals, it might be worth it to price it all out and consider paying OOP. Could be cheaper! Good luck!

There are news rules we think, but I have no firsthand knowledge, so I will answer based on what was in place before all the " leaks".

If all people are on the DDP you dan share an entree and use only one persons Credit. This works well for people who typically would not eat a full meal, people who want to stretch their credits, or people like me and my DDIL. She can never eat a full meal but enjoys dining. I love dinner but want to have some appetizer and dessert. We or my DS and her will sometimes split the entree and dessert and will share an appetizer. We have a few extra credits to use towards the extra meals I book, reducing our OOP expenses, and still get to enjoy meals without overindulging or wasting food.

This works well for us, but may not for ithers
