I've noticed alot of posters here talking about waiting in line to meet characters without kids. I'm not passing any judgement, just wondering what the draw would be for adults to meet characters that they know are not real. I love the character meets with my kids because of their joy in thinking that they are meeting the real deal, but couldn't imagine waiting in line for myself.

Please don't flame me, just trying to hear other viewpoints!! ;)

You get to have your picture taken with Cruella! AT Disney World! To me, that's more exciting than Splash Mountain.

Because many people think its fun. Maybe they didn't have the opportunity to go as a child, maybe they just enjoy having pictures taken. Millions of reasons why adults would enjoy having a character photo!

I love to have my picture taken with a few characters. I know its not real but its still lots of fun!

I've seen people taking their pictures with cardboard cutouts of celebrities. So why not costumed characters? Neither is actually the "real thing" but with costumed characters you at least get a little bit of interaction and a lot of the characters I have met (actually the CM's inside the costume) are very entertaining and enjoyable to "talk to".

2 weeks ago we were at MNSSHP getting our pictures taken with Baloo and King Louie. We were dressed as pirates and Baloo and Louie took our swords and started to have a duel. It was funny and fun to watch. And it was something I would not have been able to experience if I hadn't waited in line to get my picture taken with them.

Because they are actors and it puts you in the middle of the fantasy. Kinda like improv.

Have you ever had your photo taken with, say, a sports mascot? Or someone dressed like Elvis or Michael Jackson or any other famous person? Ever visit a wax museum and take a photo standing next to the likeness of Brad Pitt or George Clooney? Same basic thing. Those are all "character meet & greets" that adults partake in. For me ... I like Stitch. I know it's a person inside a Stitch costume, but it's fun to have a photo with a big cuddly alien. :goodvibes And really ... we should all have more FUN!

It's an escape from reality for all of us... Just because you might not have kid's doesn't mean you can't act like one when you're at WDW... But to each his own, if you don't want to stop for a pic that's cool... It's one less person in front of me:)...

What do you mean they aren't real? Next you are going to tell me Santa Claus isn't real either!

They are just fun to interact with. Have you met Lady Tremaine and the 2 step sisters? They are HILARIOUS! They gave my boyfriend at the time one heck of a time because we weren't married. Drusilla went on and on about how after dinner that night he could take me to the beach at the Poly and there would be fireworks "Ooooooo" and then he could propose "Aaaaaa" and give me a gigantic ring "Oooooo" and then we could come back and then I could show her the ring and we could tell her all about it "Yaaaaay" and she could help plan the wedding "Weeeeeee" and be my maid of honor. It was sooooo funny! It's a lot more fun than just snapping a picture if you interact with them. Same trip I told Chip and Dale that we brought them some acorns but couldn't remember where we put them? They pretended to go thru all our stuff and checked DH's cargo shorts pockets. Just good memories :goodvibes

Adults spend millions of dollars at movies that are not "real".
Adults buy and read countless books and stories that are fiction(not real).
I visit Disney World for an escape from the "real" world. If there is a character from a story i enjoy i will wait in line to meet them and take our picture. At that moment, at that time I'm not thinking this is not "real". it is called imaginition and I use it to the best of my ability to forget about the daily grind of the real world.....
The entire Disney experience is as real as you decide to make it.

One of the funniest things on our last trip happened to me when I was waiting for the check at the Crystal Palace. My wife and kid had gone outside, and I sat alone at the table. Pooh comes up to me and sits down next to me. Somehow I could understand he was feeling sorry for me, even tho he has the same expression all the time! I know there's a person inside there, but it still was a really great moment. I guess that's why people choose to get their picture taken too.

I met characters on my honeymoon, but only if there wasn't a ridiculously long line. I did it to collect autographs in my autograph book (didn't get to do this as a child) and mainly for the photo op. I've kept my book so I can bring it back and add more to it if we ever return.

we are taking my mom 63 to her first Disney trip ever in 10 sleeps. She will be standing with Mickey ,Minnie Goofy etc . Magic is not about age it is about spirit and experience. Here's to joyful magical experiences :pooh::goofy::donald:pixiedust:

I think it's the same as taking pictures with celebrities- their just people too :) But it's still fun! Most of the time kids know that it's just an actor, too, but each character is a celebrity in their own right and they act the part...which makes it all the more magical :)
