Adults in Costume....

I can post this exception to the costume "rule" that we witnessed this past Halloween night at Epcot.

We saw 7 or 8 people in costumes that were spot on Disney perfect including a perfect Snow White (on an ECV), a couple of Jack Sparrows, and one amazingly Large Alice wearing an impossibly short dress.

Our guess was that they relaxed the rules a bit since it was Halloween.

first, i have no interest in wearing a costume so this isn't a defense of something I want to do. QUOTE="chartle;50443867"] Not on the Tickets but as part of Da Rules. ETA: Here are Da Rules but I swear it used to have an exception specifically spelling out that the MNSSHP was exempt but with a few extra ones like no full face masks. :confused3 https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/parks/recommended-dress/
Right. It *used to be stronger*. Now it is not. It has changed. How do we know? Because the wording was changed. I disagree. The info we all remember isn't in disney's rules anymore. What is there is: "Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as representative of an actual Disney character." Do we decide that "can be viewed as representative of an actual Disney character" modifies only "clothing" or do we think it modifies "costumes or clothing"? IMO if its the former then there would be a comma. "Adult costumes, or clothing that can be viewed as representative of an actual Disney character." That's much stronger in stating that ANY adult costumes are not allowed. Without the comma it's nothing BUT a grey area.[/QUOTE]

The OP wants to wear a costume that represent a DISNEY character. Clearly stated that it is not allowed, with or without the comma.

OP, no it would not be appropriate to dress up in some anime costume for a WDW hard ticket event

Moonie #4 here (because there are actually 6 of us that use this account.... lol sorry ) But there are some Disney animations that are 'anime' anything by Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli: Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Kiki's Delivery Service

Just sayin'

I usually will wear a costume for nearly every single MNSSHP I attend. I also wear costumes when I do some of the runDisney races.

LOL!!! Oh dear... You've misinterpreted the term cosplayer. It is not -just- anime, it is all encomposing genres. Sci-Fi, Fantasy, North American Animation, Anime, comics, games, original design etc etc etc.... I was (and for MNSSHP) planning on disney themed costumes, which I've done before.

As for Heroes of Cosplay that is a very very VERY bad representation on just what cosplayers actually are :|

This is not however a discussion on cosplay appropriateness however or just what -it- is, or if it is appropriate to wear at non-convention environments. ( A lot of us make our costumes to go 'on site' for photoshoots etc.... ) it is just for finding out what their policy is. I have a feeling I'll probably end up going right to Disney to see what they say.

Completely off topic, but thank you for the Heroes of Cosplay reference! I'm a Cosplayer as well and wasn't a big fan of the show. I watched it, and I admire Yaya Han's work, but in general I didn't like most of the people featured on the show and found some of the sportsmanship to be absolutely horrendous.

OP, would you share a pic of your Elsa dress? I would love to see it!

I am currently making DD4 an Elsa dress. I am pretty sure that she will request an Anna one when I am done though.

I wore a costume to Star Wars weekend, no mask. I wore a pretty nice costume (Padme) I assembled from new and used clothing, I actually had no idea this might not be allowed. There were other adult guests in costume over the two weekends we were there. I received several compliments from other guests, no negativity from anyone as far as I could tell.

+1 for Cosplayers! I'm still fairly new to the scene, but I love seeing the craftsmanship and care people put in to their costumes. I'd only watch Heroes of Cosplay on DVR so I could fast forward to the manufacturing parts :)

Back on topic: the previous poster is right, many people wear costumes for Star Wars weekends as well.

Somewhat off-topic: I'd love a costume contest at Disney world like they did at D23!

:offtopic:

I know! I'm so jealous of all the work they put into those costumes. If only I could spend that kind of money! I know I'll never be as serious as those featured on the show, but I like the cosplay that I do!
