Adults in costume at MNSSHP in September??

The hubs and I are going to MNSSHP the first week it starts (13 September)... we're trying to figure out if there will be many adults in costume this early in the season, or if we will be the only weirdos dressed up. Any advice, based on past years? Thanks!

It starts tonight. My husband will be dressed as a caveman tonight and I will be a witch. It won't matter to us if nobody else is dressed up.

I'm going the 16th and will be dressed as Rey. Friend is going as Baymax.

This is about 2008, so things might have changed (they probably have) but all ages were dressed up, even at the earlier parties.
The best set of costumes I ever saw were a retired couple that were attending as Merlin and Mad Madam Mim!

(I'm attending on the 23rd and I'll be dressed up as a skirt-wearing version of Ned Land from 20k Leagues.)

There will be plenty of people dressed up, so no worries. I too always fear being the only person in a costume when going somewhere. It's awkward. MK during MNSSHP is not one of the places where there is concern about that.

Hi, sorry to jump on this post but we are going to this on the 29th September and I'm anxious about the costumes allowed. I bought a full length Anna dress last year and then they changed the rules to not touching the ground / dragging. It just about touches the ground but Disney are being no help. Can someone confirm the longest dresses worn at the party so far this year? Thank you! We're in the U.K. So need to know in advance.

Given a new rule and it's up to any given security/CM to say yes or no at the time ......... I would just take off a few inches and be safe and worry free before I go.

yea definitely cut it off - property law in US says if a person get hurts on your property - you are responsible - so if you happen to fall down - Disney would be liable. and they don't want any of their 'guest' to get hurt.

My guess is that the rule is probably to avoid dresses (or tails, etc.) that are likely to trip the wearer and/or have dragging trains others might step on. If it just barely touches the ground you might theoretically get away with it, but if it were me I'd hem the dress beforehand (if you don't want to shorten it permanently, you can just put in a few stitches here and there that can be cut later). If you don't want to do that, maybe bring some safety pins just in case you need to pin it up.

Yup, we've been going 10 years, all adults, always in costume ..... and MANY MANY around us are as well.

Also many adult "full length" costumes are way more fabric and flowing than normal clothes and have a greater chance of getting stuck in moving walkways, ride vehicles etc creating a safety issue.

I agree. Basting in a hem (ankle length?) in advance would be ideal. That way you can still lower it after your trip to your preferred length. Happy Haunting!
