Are there resorts that attract an older crowd and or do the rooms give some insulation from noise. I have trouble sleeping and although I love children they can get rather loud when they are enjoying themselves...

Well, as you know there are munchkins all over the place at Disney....but I understand what you mean.

I taught preschool for many years and although I absolutely love the 2 to 5 yr crowd, did not much want to be sitting right next to them while they squealed or had a meltdown while dining... ;)

We found the CM's to be very understanding when we would ask for a table in a quiet area (of course we explained). This is not possible at all Table Service, but often - and we did not feel the need at every meal.

Anyway.. you asked about resorts..when traveling without children the only noise we've notice at the resorts (deluxe) would be when the children run down the halls squealing with excitement or crying after a long day. We've not noticed any while in the rooms.. 9The youngest we've taken was 4 yr olds - that was a hundred yrs ago).

Anyway...without children we've stayed at the Swan, YC, Poly, GF, POR, CBR, POP and AKL. I'd say, if possible, stay at a deluxe or CSR - which is a moderate, but IN the midst of a fabulous refurbishment:

Swan would be a good choice and with the Boardwalk there are lots of adult evening activities.

Any deluxe (maybe not WL) should be good...but CSR might be an excellent possibility.

Have a great time....and :welcome: to the DIS!!

My DH and I stayed in the swan and found it to be more adult friendly than some of the Disney resorts...however, you do lose a little of that Disney magic. The TS restaurants at the swan and dolphin are also very chic and adult focused.

Having said that, our favorite hotel is the beach club...we stay in the villas and the rooms and pool area are pretty quiet.

I recommend Coronado Springs. It's more Disneyesque than the Swan, but it is a conference hotel so it attracts an adult crowd. Just request a building toward the main building away from the main pool. I recommend 9B - short walk to everything and VERY quiet. Most peaceful stay I've had at a Disney resort

Granted I usually stay at value - cute hotels, very convenient, can be loud - frankly a short walk means by the main pool which means high noise - back of the property is usually quiet, but feels like a mile after a day in the park.

I agree. Dh and I do not have children and we stay at value-Pop- and do not mind if they have us at the back of the property for that reason. We have stayed at POFQ once and loved it--very quiet and relaxing. My MIL adores Coronado and is planning on that resort for our Oct trip. have a great trip and enjoy.:cloud9:

May I add BWI? Okay - I will. DW and I stayed there for a couple of nights last trip after "the kids" went home. Maybe it was just being on our own made it feel more adult oriented ... but with Jelly Rolls, and Flying Fish and a close walk to Epcot World Showcase (which we find the most adult oriented of the parks) it has more adult appeal. And one of our favorite times is a stroll home to BWI or YC/BC after Illuminations. No crowds getting on buses or boats or the monorail ... just the two of you walking home. Have fun!!!
