Adults at Universal - can we do it in a day?

Hi - we will be in Orlando for 5 days on March 15th. We are avoiding Disney this time and hope to check out things we haven't done. Universal is high on our list. I have read some of the descriptions, but really don't have a feel for this park. Is this something we can enjoy in one day?

How should the crowds be during that week? Would the VIP tour be worth it or do you think the waits will be OK?

Any tips would be appreciated!!

My wife and I did an adult only trip in October for our Anniversary and it took us all of two days to do both Universal and IOA, and that was with the front of the line passes. I would plan one day for each park, and a third to go back and redo shows or rides you like. If you are not staying on site and getting FOTL you will definately need two days to do both parks, even if you skip certain areas.

Weekday touring should be fine. I wouldn't worry about VIP on a weekday.

If you know how to tour the parks (we can give you tips here), you should have no problem hitting each park in one day, or even both parks in 1 day (since it is a weekday, but doing this can sacrifice a bit of enjoying your surroundings and doing smaller things such as shows.)

Is it possible? Yes

Enjoyable, not so sure. You would have to be a park commando to do it all. I would try to have at least two days for everything and stay on site with FOTL.

Park Commando! LOL! Thats me to a T, so I shouldn't really be giving anybody tips.

Oh yeah, when you tour the parks, whtever you do DO NOT see Ghostbusters! (Sorry FlyFly, lol!)

LOL.... I've done it too! So I know what you mean. It's just so much nicer to be able to take it all in though.

My wife and I did this last May. The parks were not very crowded and many rides had no wait. We still felt rushed to see it all... So I agree that you may need another day to really enjoy both parks

Hi again - how about if we only do Universal? Or will we be missing a lot doing just one park? We are not into heavy duty roller coasters and I had the feeling that there was a lot of that at IOA. My husband takes stuff for motion sickness problem but the big roller coasters might be too much.

We are staying in a timeshare off site.

There are only two big coasters in IoA (well, 3 since Dueling Dragons is really 2 coasters). Spiderman is worth the price of admission--my husbands favorite ride. There are a couple of wet rides, too. The park is a lot of fun. Do you have the time to spend one day in each park? If so, do it--there are lots of things to see and it's nicer to take your time and repeat things you want to repeat.
