I am terminally ill with cancer and my church decided that they wanted to grant my wish to take the kids to WDW before I don't feel good enough to do it. I have 4 children, so it's a party of 6 travelling. I am currently wheelchair bound due to pain when walking long distances. I walk around at home, but not a lot.
With help from many friends and networking, we have arranged our lodging at Fort Wilderness in a cabin. WDW Compassion Partners are donating 3 days worth of park-hopper passes. But the other things, we need to arrange for ourselves, and they will be paid for by the church. We will be flying in on 10/6 and leaving on 10/12.
Got a boatload of questions.
1. We've been told that we should rent a golf cart on Ft. Wilderness. However, a golf cart isn't going to hold all 6 of us, and I'm the only one who's wheelchair bound. We're going to take my own chair, so I'm thinking this is an expense we can skip. What do you think?
2. We're going to be buying 2 more days of passes, I think. We were told that we really should do the Disney Dining Plan as well, but it does not look like we can buy the DDP under the circumstances since it's part of a package (lodging was already booked by a cast member, 3 days of passes donated, etc.). Does anyone know if we can buy this seperately?
3. If we do not raise enough to purchase the 2 extra days of passes, the Compassion Partners program will give us 1 or 2 days to Universal Stuidos, or one day each to Seaworld or Busch Gardens. Which of those choices would you recommend for a family with 16, 14, 11, and 7 year olds?
I am so excited about this trip.
I'm sure that I'll have other questions as the trip gets closer. Now we're just praying that I'm healthy enough to enjoy this dream vacation! You guys have such good advice for each other. Thanks for sharing your WDW wisdom with me!
