We are a group of 4 adults traveling. Can anyone give me some insight on magic band charges. We all have different budgets for when we get there and all want to be in charge of our own spending. When swiping MB for food or souvenirs the charges go to the room account right? Is there a way to keep our charges separate?

Yes, you can have each person set up to charge to their own credit card at the front desk. They will create their own PIN to use and their band will charge to that account and not the room folio.

perfect thank you!

I had this same question... thank you for the answer! But I wonder if there's anyway to do so online beforehand. Can't that info be done with online check-in?

I do not think you can do it online. It's been a while since I've checked that though.

You cant do it online. Magicband charges will go to the card on file with the hotel (which is different from the card that you have linked in the app....learned that the hard way lol). If you do mobile ordering, that will charge to the card you have linked to the app but for MB purchases you need to do it with the front desk bc it is linked to your resort card.

If you do set this up - just be sure to have folks check their charges along the way. We've never had it work smoothly. Now, my folks just keep rough track in their heads and they send me money. Worked well for us - especially because then the TS meals we shared were charged with my AP discount. But you do need good trust among your party for this.

For all adults, i don't understand why you wouldn't all just charge to your individual credit cards. Is it really that much hassle to carry one card with you in the parks? Or am i missing some other reason why using a MB would be better?

I'm lazy and don't like fumbling through my loungefly to get to my wallet.

To me it's no different then us with GC's. If you accidentally leave your CC or GC somewhere, you do not have to hope someone honest finds it and turns it in and does not use it. Whereas the MB at least is PIN protected and more convenient.

If we charge our meals to our hotel account and pay it off with our travel CC, it all codes as Travel and we get points. If we pay for meals in the restaurant with the same CC, we don’t earn as many points because it codes differently.

And at least for some, it is a bit of a pain to carry the credit card. Mostly because I'd rarely just carry one credit card in a pocket for fear of losing it or it falling out, which means I'd be bringing my wallet instead. That's bigger and heavier, and if it rains, I'm worried about it and its contents getting wet. There's a freedom to hitting the parks with almost empty pockets letting the Magic Band handle everything. The only other thing I bring with me is my cell phone and honestly, I wish I didn't need to carry that either - but Disney has become too 'planned' where so much needs to be done with the phone - I miss the days when I could just go to a kiosk and grab a free fast pass for a ride, or book same day dining reservations, etc.

I agree, sometimes it works great sometimes charges go to the wrong place
