Adult Tea

jann1033,

Rose and Crown has a tea? Please do tell!

KIS

The tea for me and my husband will only work if our daughter can later join us.

Did anyone do that?

Talk about being tired from too much work! I just noticed you folks were saying that there is no longer a tea at the Rose and Crown! Thank God for the weekend!

You're welcome! You're going to have a great time! Eat a scone for me!

Can't believe the deciding vote for my husband agreeing to attend was when someone posted that their husband was able to enjoy a beer and a piece of pound cake. I'm not really a tea drinker and thought I'd go with the offered coffee substitute.....am I really nuts to post this info. on a tea drinking topic?
I'm looking forward to it....I'm tempted to go ala carte...ordering everything on the menu....yum...it all sounds so delicious. Could anyone comment on their favorite items.....I mean, would you pick one sweet over another? Thanks.

c4241, I'm glad you were able to persuade your husband with the promise of a beer! LOL
All of the items I had at the tea were quite good. I think the best for me was the strawberries and cream. It was just so decadent! Really though, everything I tried was just delicious. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you will enjoy!

I'm not positive, but I think you could probably get any alcoholic beverage you like. They have cocktail servers in the lobby area adjacent to where the tea is served and I bet the tea waitstaff could get anything you desire.

If you find yourself in the GF on a cold day (they do happen, especially around Christmas), the hot chocolate they serve is the best I've ever had! I had it in the lobby but I bet the "tea" would serve it, too. I think they do serve it for the children's tea.

PamOKW: You mean the "tea" for the kids is hot chocolate? My daughter will be so pleased. (I'm also forewarned: no white dress!)

The strawberries and creams sounds incredibly decedent. I was thinking that the tea for two would be a fine assortment of goodies.

I love this kind of thing. I guess I'm forever a little girl. Does anyone else feel that way?

Yup! My DH has twice now enjoyed a beer and pound cake. He actually has gotten to the point that he ENJOYS tea because the puund cake is incredible!! :) You can get any "adult" beverage, I usually start with a Grand Mimosa.

You can choose coffee rather than tea.

The kids tea is chocolate milk, not hot chocolate, sorry. Although it's possible that you can get a subsitute.

I have to agree, the strawberries and cream are incredible. I had some yesterday at a family gathering, and the cream was no where near as good and decadent.

ducklite - thanks...yes, you were the one who first mentioned "beer". Hubby thanks you profusely. OK...so the strawberries are great...several votes for that. But what's another not to be missed item. If I decide to go ala carte...what shouldn't be missed? Are the tea sandwiches that fantastic? Or is it the scones? Need help it what you all look forward to tasting. Thanks.
Forgot to say that we are "sweetaholics".
:D

The tea sandwiches were very good. However, I share your sweet tooth - so out of the offerings on the a la carte menu, I'd probably opt instead for the scones with cream and preserves and/or the jam tarts, which were also quite tasty. Goodness, I think I gain another pound every time I read or write a post on this thread!!!! lol

Kim....if you gain weight writing about foods...then I'll send you some diet pages to read so you can lose by "reading". heehee

:teeth: That's great! LOL
I think I'll need several of those, ok? hehe!
