Sigh - I think it is time for this. DD's are both in college and their plans/schedules don't really fit dh's and mine anymore.

We have 66 points banked from last year and all of this year's allotment.....time to make some plans.

A one bedroom will be in order - we prefer the king size bed and the convenience of having a kitchen. Other than that, I'm looking for suggestions for making this trip special and unique. There will be family trips in our future again, someday (I hope!), but for now am trying to make the transition to planning just for the "grown ups".

Any help out there?

We do adult only trips all the time. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! We spend as much time in epcot as we want. Linger forever over dinner at the signature places. Drink in the hot tub. Look at all the whiny children and grin at each other. It's awesome! I just did a girls weekend with my mom and my 90 year old grandma. Too fun!

DH and I went on a grown ups trip in Dec. and made some ADR's at the nicer resturantes which we really never did with our 3 DD's,we did not "run" to get fast passes and really took our time doing the countries in Epcot. We had a car rental so we did leisure trips to the outlets and DTD. We stayed at BLT so we took boat rides over the FT and VWL just because we could!

We have 2 DD's in college and 1 in HS and I am surprised that the 2 in college still follow us down to WDW for 4 - 5 days in Feb over Presidents weekend.

We are definitely are thinking about trying a new resort. DVC-wise, we've only stayed at OKW and SSR. Back in our regular resort days, we stayed at CBR, Contemporary, Poly (our all-time favorite), WL and All-Stars (just on arrival nights).

We are definitely still kids at heart - there will be park time & rides involved. We have always done plenty of table service & signatures - so may be looking to try some new and different places while including some of our favorites (Artist Point and Jiko).

We've found the adult only trips by ourselves and with others from out of town to be very enjoyable. The times we are by ourselves, just the two of us, we go at our own pace, and especially enjoy Epcot that way.

Other times, we may join up with friends from out of town - Chicago, Miami, wherever - and eat somewhere as a group, go to the Halloween Party or Christmas Party, or hang out together to watch Grand Illuminations.

No rushing - it works. Enjoy.

Dh and I love staying at BWV when it's just the 2 of us. So nice to be able to stroll over to EPCOT and DHS.
Have a great time. Our girls are 7,5 and 2, and we have already taken 2 trips to WDW without them. I think our time together alone is important too, but we still end up missing them.

Adult only trips are fantastic! We bought back in 1997 when our girls were 11 and 13. We had great trips with them as a family. But the last few years it is mostly just DH and me. And boy are we having a great time. It is so relaxing. I love just spending time with DH over a nice dinner. I love the flexibility and not feeling like we have to rush around everywhere. We have taken our daughters, SIL, and our 3 grandkids to WDW a couple times in the last few years and have had some wonderful times. But I really look forward to the adult only trips.

Have you done any of the tours,we did The Magic Behind the Steam, I am a train buff and my DW tolerates it so she went with me. We always wanted to do some of the backstage tours but the age restictions made it hard I would look at some of them.

We have not done any tours - that idea sounds intriguing. I'll have to look into what is available. The Segway tour sounds fun - just not sure how good my balance it (I have a bunch of metal in my ankle from a bad break).

My DW and I did out 1st Adults only trip 2 years ago. We picked AKV and went the beginning of December so we could see all the decorations. We were able to get concierge (YAY) and the sunrise safari. It was AMAZING!

DH and I started getting away without kids when our oldest was home from college. We love to do a split stay at Vero in an ocean view inn room for 3 nights then do a few nights at Disney. We love being able to do things on our own time, like going through the countries in Epcot and walking the trails at the Animal Kingdom. My DH was never a big Disney fan until we started taking these trips on our own. Now he appreciates it much more, even when we come down with the whole family.

I say splurge on the AKL concierge level, then if you don't feel like going to a park, you can enjoy the concierge lounge and each other's company. Either way, adults only sounds lovely!

We did a short three nighter at VWL in Feb 2008 and it was very nice. We strolled around at our own pace, did an attraction every once in a while, enjoyed nice dinners and really enjoyed adult time without kids in the room! We are taking my daughter and her friend for a senior trip the first week of June. My daughter leaves for college in August and I look forward to planning some more just us trips!

DH and I love taking adults only trips. We went for 5 nights alone last June. It was wonderful. I think we only rode 3 attractions those whole 5 days. We stayed at BWV, and spent lots of time at EPCOT - our favorite park. We spent lovely afternoons at the quiet pool, followed by nice dinners, and strolls around the World Showcase. We have planned another adults only trip for Oct for the Food and Wine Festival. We will be doing the deluxe dining plan, and at least one tour. We take our boys for at least 2 weeks per year, so we don't feel guilty leaving them with Grandma when we go!

Another vote for the adults only trips! Our last child left for college in 2001 and we have been doing adult trips ever since. We adore them! Sometimes my sister & her husband join us for a long weekend trip, as well. Of course, we still do trips with our kids & grandkids now but we love "our time". We have ventured out to try new resorts and restaurants. The kids were appalled at first that we would try something new!::faint:

DW and I went alone the week after Thanksgiving 2010 (TR link below) and had a blast! No rushing to get all the rides in. Took the Backstage Magic Tour. Did a split stay to experience two different resorts. Ate at nicer restaurants that adult kids would not appreciate (V&A, Bistro de Paris, Flying Fish, Jiko's). Resort hopped to see the Christmas decorations. It was a very laid back, take your time and soak up the atmosphere trip. We loved it!

DH and I went for the first time alone over labor day last year and loved it. While we were swimming in the Turtle Pond pool at OKW, DH said, "we should do this every year."

OK!

So this year we're booked at BWV and I'm so excited! It was great for us. You will love going just the two of you.

We have not done any tours - that idea sounds intriguing. I'll have to look into what is available. The Segway tour sounds fun - just not sure how good my balance it (I have a bunch of metal in my ankle from a bad break).

I thought of this for our upcoming trip but I think I will fall off. Anyone have some experience with this?:confused3

I agree with AKV being an awesome place for adult only trip, so relaxing. We only stayed 1 night and had our 15 yr old DD with us and she even said she wants to go back. I sat on the balacony for HOURS watching the animals, reading my book and having a cold beer! Does not get much better then that!

We have enjoyed our alone time and found that the pace and enjoyment factor changed when we go alone. We are staying cl level AKl for 8 days and really can't wait, this will be our first DVC trip and first cl as well. We are looking forward to the spoiling and amenities. We don't get that too much at home so this is gonna be a real treat. There is nothing better than strolling thru MK watching people rushing around and knowing I don't have to cause I can come back often, so I can enjoy myself and no little ones having meltdowns ohhh the pleasure of it!!!!
