So, my husband and I will be staying at Saratoga Springs over the weekend WITHOUT OUR KIDS!!! :cool1: We aren't planning on going in the parks, just kind of swimming and walking around, and sleeping in, and having adult conversations, and meals without chicken nuggets! I was hoping to get some recommendations for lunch or dinner to a couple of restaurants on property, but out of the parks. We don't have a huge budget, so forget Victoria and Alberts or anything like that. We just want to have some good food and a great time. By the way, we are not planning on doing the DDP.
Thanks!

The Turf Club at SSR is very good and tends to be less crowded and easier to get in than many of the other TS.

I think you would enjoy Portabello Yacht Club in DTD :thumbsup2

They have great food and a very nice atmosphere

It is my favorite place to eat while on our Disney vacations, and even though it is not on the DDP, we go there and pay out of pocket, and it's worth every penny! :goodvibes

I hope you enjoy your vacation pixiedust:

I agree with the Portobello's recommendation. We go there at least once every trip. It's usually crowded for dinner, but quiet for lunch. It's a little pricey, but I do believe they offer a DVC discount. Great desserts & wine list.

When it's just my husband and I, we also enjoy these restaurants:

Flying Fish at the Boardwalk
Jiko's at AKL
Artist's Point at WL
Raglan Road at Pleasure Island

We are also big fans of the Turf Club at SS.

Check out the menus on www.allearsnet.com.

For the first time ever, my wife and I are leaving the kids for one night during our family's upcoming trip and having a meal to ourselves.
We chose to go to Jiko. Never been there -- heard wonderful things. It's slightly on the pricey side, but we don't care all that much -- it's a splurge.
But last year we stayed at the Yacht Club and were tempted to try Yachtsman Steakhouse alone. There's also Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge that we have done with the kids, but would be very nice for just the two of us.
And having said all of that, my wife and I often talk about how nice it would be to go to one of the standard, family-friendly restaurants at Disney alone!
Anyway, aes74, hope that doesn't confuse you more than it helps you. Honestly, can you ever actually make a wrong choice about anything when it comes to Disney?! :)
Enjoy your alone time.

Here is one that I forgot to mention. In my opinion, Todd English's BlueZoo at the Dolphin is among the best. We occaionally see children there, but this is really more of an adult restaurant. It's quiet, has beautiful decor, great service, is romantic, and, of course, expensive. You could take the bus from SS to DHS and then the Friendship boat to Swan/Dolphin. Or you could take the boat from SS to DD and then the bus to Swan/Dolphin.

Jiko's, The Kona Cafe, Artist Point, The Yachtsmen Steakhouse, anything at The Grand Floridian, The Flying Fish...these are great restaurants for adults!

We did this last september for our 10th aniv. It was very relaxing. We ended up deciding we wanted to have another baby LOL. I am due on our aniv. sept. 7th.

I loved Wolfgang Puck's dining room. It is within walking distance. A little pricey but great.

We walked down for a couple of late breakfasts at Earl of sandwich.

We also went to the brewery on the boardwalk it was opening weekend for the nfl and Espn club was packed but this was a nice place to watch a game too.
We tried turf club for the first time we liked it better when we went back in nov. and sat outside.
Have lots of fun we are thinking of trying for an oct. trip. :wizard:

If you wanna tie one on, you could go to Raglan Road. The food is good and it is more of a bar type atmosphere. Lots of great drink selections and I know at some point they have entertainment. You could also head right to Pleasure Island for some fun....love Adventurers Club!!

For lunch, I "third" Portabello Yacht Club. Also, we like House of Blues. And, we've had some nice meals at Fulton's Crab House, so long as we stick to a simple meal of soup, shellfish and wine -- avoiding any fancy concoctions. These restaurants are much less crowded at lunch than dinner. You're a boat ride away from DownTown Disney, so take advantage!

Lunch at the Turf Club was also nice, although service was rather distracted and haphazard.

Beyond that, we've enjoyed a late meal at Grand Floridian Cafe. A steak dinner at Shula's is good but very pricey.

The signature restaurants at WDW are also good, but can get pricey. Plus, there are always tons of kids at the signature restaurants, which is why we prefer the DownTown Disney restaurants.

We won't go back to Ragland Road. The band was so loud I sincerely thought my hearing would be destroyed by the time I finished dinner.

The band starts playing at 9PM at Raglan Road. If you are interested in the entertainment, ask for a table with a view of the stage. Otherwise, you may be put in a room where you can hear it, but not see it. There is also a step dancer that comes out about every 20 minutes.
