I know the vast majority of visitors to Orlando will be families, but my DH and I have been going for years…without kids and always have a great time…I guess we are big enough kids ourselves.

With no kids to worry about, we only use the hotel as a base and some where to crash after a day in the parks and as long as its clean and tidy we’re happy and the cash we save means more to spend on other things.

We normally alternate our days, i.e. one day at a park the next day is more of a relaxation day at a water park (followed by a night on the town!).

Our favourite places for a cracking night out are Pleasure Island, City Walk and Church St Station.

Has anyone any other ideas for a good night out on the town…as this year we’re taking my twin sister and we really want to push the boat out!

We don't even bother much with DD or City Walk. (We're a half-generation older than you, so that might have something to do with it. :teeth: ) It is a wonderful place, especially after you've been there several times, just to relax, take in whatever you want, and leave the rest. Familiarity breeds comfort, in this case.

I must admit I thought Church St Station closed years ago? I thought there might be one or two things still open there but I really thought it had for the most part been closed down. Anyone else know?

Have you been to the Boardwalk? Top notch restaurants, and a great atmosphere. You can walk there from the World Showcase at Epcot or drive and park there.

I read somewhere as well that Church Street Station closed a few years ago.

Church Street Closed....! :sad2:
We went to the West Coast last year, but It was open in 2002.

If anyone has been this year please let me know, surly downtown Orlando is still buzzing, no Cheyenne Saloon and no Rosie O'Grady's would be a real shame :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Church Street Station is still there but it has just reopened after being closed for a long time as something different, Cheyenne Station and Rosie O' Gradys have gone and there is now a big comedy club there instead. Its probably still really good there.

try the various bars and/or clubs on city walk by universal. theres a great variety to suit your musical and drinking tastes. and with alot of them if you go in before 9 or 10pm you avoid paying the door charge

Thanks everyone,

After more diggin' ...It's true Church Street has closed :sad2:

But I'm sure we'll be OK with the trillion other places to have a great time...lol

Don't get your hopes up too much for Church Street St (with the exception of the comedy club), as it is only a pale reflection of what used to be there. However, the downtown area still has a lot going for it, mainly on Orange Avenue, Wall Street and Washington, which all interlink. Look out for the great live music club The Social, the amazing 08:Seconds nightclub (even if you don't like C&W, this is a great club), and the superb range of bars along Church St (Antigua, Big Bellys, Chillers), Wall Street (Wall Street Cantina, Have A Nice Day Cafe, The Globe and the new Monkey Bar martini lounge) and Orange Avenue (Alpha Bar, Sky60, Room 39 and Lizzy McCormack's). There is a lot going on downtown these days, and it is well worth an evening or two there. We also rate The Pointe quite highly for an evening, especially at Adobe Gila's, which is a really happening bar at the weekends, plus the two nightclubs, Metropolis and Matrix. We still enjoy Pleasure Island and CityWalk (especially the Latin Quarter at weekends), but there is a lot more besides!
