DH and I will be spending a couple nights pre and post cruise in early Feb '12 :cool1: We are staying at the GCV 2 nights each, without the kids. We are WDW and DCL vets, but haven't been to DL for over five years. Is there anything like Jellyrolls in the resort(s) area? We are only planning on going into the parks post cruise. For all of the DL vets, are there any "must dos" in the DTD/resort areas? Also, besides hitting the attractions that are specific to DL/DCA what suggestions would you have for us to not miss? Feel free to include food ideas as well ;)

TIA

For a great dining experience, check out Napa Rose in GCH. Be sure to leave plenty of time, and if you are a creme brulee fan, their's is not to be missed.

I very much like the Alfresco Lounge in DCA, it cozy, the out seats have pleasant views. The wine bar below it on the patio in nice too.

If you are there in particular over a weekend when hours are long and entertainment full in the offseason, and want something similiar to Jelly Roles you won't quite find it.

If you are looking for pop music and dancing see ElecTRONica in DCA, I would see it anyway if you don't care for house style music. Laserman puts on a cool show and the whole party scene is something to see.

If you want more classic dancing there is a chance that the Plaza Gardens stage may have a jazz type band playing, but this area is getting rethemed some time after the holidays.

There are also bands on the Tomorrowland Stage at night and the music can vary from classic rock to modern.

In DTD which is next to the GCH they have live bands, plenty of bars. Dining there is similar to the offerings at DTD WDW.

Check the entertainment right before you leave to know what exactly is happeding these side shows appear last on the schedule.

Saw ZZTop at The House of Blues a year ago last summer. They have some decent music there off and on. Closest I could get.

The DLH has a new Tiki Bar, Trader Sam's! So much fun! Not exactly romantic adult fun, but after two of those drinks you won't care about romance!! :lmao:

Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney has live entertainment most evenings and great food. Our dinner there was one of the highlights of our last trip.:thumbsup2

Thank you all for the ideas!! We've been married over 22 yrs now, so the fun is more important to us then the romance ;) :lmao: I'm taking notes on all the suggestions, this will be great!! With 4 nights and almost 6 days, the more ideas the better, thanks again. . . .and keep 'em comin!!! :thumbsup2

House of Blues is great suggestion. They get all sorts of great bands. The Damned played there on Halloween night. We got to DLR a couple of nights later, otherwise I would have loved to have seen them.

Ironic, isn't it, that the Damned played Disneyland. I wonder if that is what Walt had in mind when he opened the park? :confused3

You might want to read the DLR guide for WDW vets it will discuss some things that are specific to DLR and different than WDW.

I'm glad to hear that you have many days and not just a single day tacked onto your cruise. Like I mentioned above since it's offseason and entertainment and hours are full on the weekend I hope you will get some weekend days. You might want to plan to stay in the parks at night on the weekend(Fri, Sat and Sun) days and then spend time in DTD and elsewhere the other night since the parks will likely be shut down by 9pm.

You might consider eating somewhere down Harbor. Granted they are all chains it's easy to take the OCTA buses or ART. There are Red Robbins, Bucca Di Peppo and Mortons. Also you can walk in about 20 minutes to Garden Walk from the GCH. Garden Walk has some chains such as a Cheese Cake Factory and McCormick and Schmidts. GW also has a bowling alley and a movie theater with wine and beer.

Of course if you haven't been dining at Blue Bayou in DL along the POTC ride is something everyone should try. Also for a slow relaxed dinner, Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel may be in order.

Just a side note. All TS locations in DLR allow reservations that can be made upto 60 days before your visit. But it's easy to get reservation if you have a little bit of flexibility, you can get them during your visit a week, day or even the morning before your want to eat.

If Disney fun is more important than romance, then Trader Sam's is a can't be missed destination. Plan to spend some time there: first inside to experience all of the special magical effects that Sam has up his sleeve (think Adventurer's Club on a much smaller scale, but still super fun). Then, venture outside to hang out by the fireplace. They are totally different experiences within 25 feet of one another. I recommend the Hippopotomaitai for both the effect it triggers when you order it and the super cute glass tiki cup that you get to take home with you.

If you two like Elvis, you will want to check if Scot Bruce will be at Tomorrowland Terrace (TLT) when you are at DLR. For Elvis fans, he is quite entertaining.

I saw him last week and he was great. It was like watching the real deal!

It's not adult entertainment per sé, but it's fun to take the Disneyland list of entertainment and "show-hop" around the park. Billy Hill is fun, as are The Bootstrappers and the Royal Street Bachelors and the Dapper Dans. Not to mention some of the street performers that don't make the list. And The Mad Hatter just may be the funniest thing at DLR.

I love the port wine and chocolate tasting in DCA. It's at the wine bar (or used to be) next to Wine Country Trattoria. You go up to the bar and you can either make a reservation or do it on the spot. They have other tastings as well--port and cheese, different wines, not sure what else. I never get past the port and chocolate :rotfl:

It's really fun and you get to sample 3 types of port paired with 3 types of Ghirardelli chocolate. Then you get to mix and match. Your steward (not sure what that person is called) will tell you all about it and if you're friendly, you can have a great time plus learn a lot of non wine-related info. Be sure to mention the Magicale (sparkling wine made only for Disney) and they will likely give you a nice sample or two! They always have for us, anyway.

The last time we did this our wine guy recommended going on Tower of Terror right afterward...let me just say he was right! It is a whole different experience after a bunch of port and Magicale :rolleyes1

We enjoyed just having a glass of wine and some nibbles at Catal's Uva Bar while watching the people go by.

Very funny Mike.

Napa Rose's Chef's Counter is a great dining experience.

The Sunday Gospel Brunch at the House of Blues is about as much fun as you should ever be allowed to have while fully dressed.

We love Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and always get seats in where the group is playing.

The Garden Walk has Roy's Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine and a great, jazzed up bowling alley. I know it sounds cheesy, but the bowling is a great date night. Fire + Ice is cool too.
