ADR=Advance dinner reservation? Anyway I hope I'm understanding that abbreviation. Do you need them for EVERY sit down meal now? I'd really like to have a lunch at the Sci-Fi drive in but just hats the thought of being totally set and tied down. Are they always necessary?

If you have your heart set on eating somewhere I'd get the ADR! If it's not a huge deal and you're willing to eat CT instead you can just wing it and hope you get a seat.

I also think it depends when you will be there Certainly some times and some places will be easier than others. I have not heard of people having a hard time with Sci Fi, in general.

I would make reservations. Every restaurant I have ever eaten in has been filled to the brim. The chances of finding a table could be slim to none. You may be going at a less busy time, but personally, I wouldn't risk it.

If you are totally flexible about where and when you eat, then you don't necessarily need ADRs. Though you shouldn't be suprised if you can't find a restaurant with an immediate opening when you decide you are hungry. You may end up having to travel to a resort or even another park to find a restaurant with an available table.

Thanks for the tips. We eat like old people; early breakfast, early lunch and early dinner. I think I am going to at least book at the coral reef restaurant and our Ohana Lilo and stitch breakfast for DDs birthday and call it good.
and ooooh gotta get my MNSSHP tickets asap! Woo hoo!!

Exactly. I see people turned away even in the slowest season. There's only a handful of restaurants that can consistently take walk ins. Almost everywhere else you'll looking at a 2plus hour wait or a "thanks for trying but we're full up".

recommend ADRs for Coral Reef and Ohana. Sci Fi lunch is often completely booked also.

ADRs at WDW are a bit insane. We have cut down on the number of sit down meals as our kids have become older and want to be in the parks more.

We have a short visit to Disneyland planned for this summer. It appears that reservations there are much easier to come by with many available same day. That's probably driven by the higher percentage of locals in the parks.

I always get ADR's. Then if we don't want to use it later, we call 24 hours in advance and cancel. It is that simple....

I agree that if you have your heart set on it then make the ADRs. But if you are flexible and you are not going during a busy time then you can wing it.

We go during a slower time and on our last trip, DH and I ate there with no ADRs. It was after the lunch rush and we were walking by so we decided to check wait times. They told us 10 minutes and we waited only about 5 minutes.

Always get ADRs... Our last trip was in a relatively slower time (1st week of December and was only planned 48 hours before we left - SO there was very little time for ADRs. We tried walk up for numerous places for lunch and dinner and 90% of the time couldn't get anything. 50's Prime Time, sci fi mama melrose - all in DHS and all had zero seating for L or D.
