Hi. We are planning on being at our resort, GF SL, each afternoon for swimming and then changing and heading to appetizers/beverages at 5pm when they are served. In your experience, what would the best time for a dinner ADR be? Anyone regret dinner ADRs while staying Club level? It would be for Narcoosees, Cali Grill and Via Napoli tentatively . I don't want to feel like we're literally running to make the ADR on time, and don't want to make a 9pm reservation either. I was thinking 6Narcoosees, 6:45 Cali grill and 7 for Via Napoli. (Of course on diff. days.) Will we feel too stuffed for a meal that close?

We just returned from WL-CL. We found eating lunch was the best way to make use of the lounge. The offerings there at dinner were substantial, especially paired with desserts and cordials at 8:00. You could also plan for a late dinner and go right at 5:00 for an appetizer, have dinner at say 7:00-8:00 then return for dessert. We found ourselves to be stuffed much of the trip!

Thanks Wendybeth75. I see your point. On a few days we do have lunch as our big meal, but Cali grill, Narcoosees only do dinner. I figured whatever time our ADR is for, to add on 20 min at least for food arrival. So, if we're having apps and wine CL at 5, does dinner at 6:20 Natcoosees still seem like too much? Maybe just order a nice glass of wine, share an appetizer or dessert and be done? I'd hate to be stuck with no ADR if we're still hungry. GF clublevel fans... What do you think? What have you done in the past?

We have stayed CL countless time and always combined table service dining for either lunch or dinner depending on the days activities and events. Normally, did one or two table service a day. We normally made it a point to get the lounge when it first opened with the evening offering and used the offerings as appetizers and drinks. We normally did not make it back in time for desserts (sometimes wee did), but then again we did not always make it for appetizers either on some nights. I found it better to partake in the beverage more then the food (leaves room for dinner), prior to the evening dinner ADR. Epcot meal may be the more pressed on time, but it looks like you could spend sufficient time in the lounge and head out. Its also nice to get a beverage/wine to go too, just ask the CM if disposable glasses are not out on the line. Have fun.

1) The offerings at GF are not as substantial as at WL !
2) We stayed GF Main Building and were really disapppointed.

We stayed GF SL, although it was 3 years ago, but the food was substantial. It was way more food than any other CL. For breakfast besides the normal variety - there was fresh mozzerella, cold cuts and bread to make sandwiches for later. Again - that might have changed, but we were so sorry that we had made many dinner reservations. We ended up cancelling many of them because of all the food. Lunch TS meals were great then snacks at night. They had hot and cold hor d'oeuvres every night. Plus there were cordials at night with desserts. The desserts were not just fruit, at least 3-4 different desserts plus fruit. If you were going to do dinner then I would do around 7.

We would have evening snacks then head back to the park.

Enjoy GF SL!

I definitely prefer the bigger lunch, snack at night strategy if staying CL.

Usually, if I have nighttime ADR's, we don't make get the apps in the lounge, because our ADR's are typically for about 5:00 (when the kids are hungry).

But, for your ADR's right at the resort, if you make your dining reservation for between 6 and 6:30 you would still be able to enjoy the app period as well. :goodvibes

Aaaaaahhhhhh.......all the discrepancy about how much food is really out!!! :) I kid-I kid. DS is an adventurous eater, so I can see him easily getting full off of apps in the lounge. Maybe we'll just end up sharing a meal at Cali grill or Nar. Or, just do desserts there or something. I'd hate to get charged for 3 no shows. If ressie is for 6pm, do I have until 6pm the day before to cancel?

That's what I was kind of thinking!
I'm fine to get rid of the Cali Grill ADR, but really wanted to be able to comfortably make the one at Narc. This is our first visit ever to GF, so to me it just seems like we should have at least one night to explore a nice restaurant and the resort.

We enjoy the lounge appetizers, and then sometimes have a dinner reservation later. If we don't want a big meal, we'll order a couple of apps for our dinner. Sometimes we'll get a salad, as well. It's nice to have that option.

If we're there during food and wine, we will have some nights without a reservation at all. We'll have apps, and then wander over for a few snacks at epcot. Very fun!

I wish we were going during the Food/Wine fest! I love to try all the little tasting portions. I guess I'll keep the ressies we already have and if we're too full for a whole meal, just do beverages, apps and dessert at our ADR's. Sometimes a bunch of small tastes is more enjoyable than a whole meal of just one thing. Looking forward to trying CL at GF!
