ADRs vs Walk Up TS vs QS

I seem to remember someone else recently claiming they were smart because they gamed the system and deprived others...

You may think that you're smart. I couldn't possibly comment.. :rolleyes1

I would book EVERYTHING you THINK you might want to do. Book 4 or 5 meals a day. Book it all. As your trip gets closer cancel reservations you no longer will need. I can't tell you how many times our plans change as we get closer and not having that particular reservation available to you restricts your planning.
Terrible, rude advice. You're restricting the planning of everyone else trying to get ADRs. Rude.

As I stated later when Disney decides to set hours, emh, ticketed events, restaurant offerings, dining events all over 180 days out then I'll be able to do the same. Right now they don't and why should I be forced to make decisions with partial information?

Further everyone can make reservations at 180 days out and if they fail to plan properly that's not my fault.

So you punish your fellow vacationers for Disney's decisions. Lovely.

Honestly the op question was answered and it's now just some attacking others for using the system. Others see abuse. No thread will resolve. Suggest mod close this one down. I and others won't stop defending against unprovoked attacks.

"Punishing your fellow vacationers" is going way too far. Dropping a reservation allows someone else to pick it up. No harm no foul. It makes someone's day, actually. Early bird catches the worm.

Would just not canceling the reservation be rude? Yes. But that's not what was suggested.

Definitely don't rely upon walking up to any TS, even in the hotels. Learned that lesson the hard way, once in the 80s and again in 2012:sad2: Book at least 1 TS per day to beat the heat and crowds. DHS is hard for decent QS food. Brown Derby Lounge is a possibility but may not have stuff that picky kids like. We usually do Backlot Express:( I have heard decent things about the newish menus at Fairfax Fare and Rosie's. I think I especially heard good things about the fried green tomato sandwich and the empanada. I don't think the QS options at the Boardwalk are much better. However, if you are doing a split day between Epcot and DHS, then Epcot has a ton of good QS. Hollywood Brown Derby and 50s Prime Time are really good TS at DHS.
