A friend from work got back from WDW a week ago. We work opposite shifts, she works the day shift. We don't get to see each other as much as we'd like.
Look what she got me while she was there:

It's an address book. It will be perfect for my trip as I want to send out post cards to my family and friends. What makes it even more special is the fact that my friend has had a rough time this year also. She lost her 21 yr. old DS in an auto accident earlier this year. He was a huge WDW fan. This trip was a sad one for her. For her to think of me while she was there makes this priceless to me!

And yesterday I spent more money on our trip. Well what I bought will come in handy anywhere, but I don't know if I would have bought it right now if it wasn't for our trip. I bought a portable car GPS. Mio Moov 300. Nothing fancy - no MP3s or Bluetooth- Just something to give me directions with the names of the streets. (I was told that some don't give you the name of the street you need to turn onto.) I ordered it on-line. It should be here is a week. I can't wait to play with it.

I also just hooked up with a great DISfamily for a meet at DHS during our trip.
How cool is that! I can't wait to see you T4P and Wannabe B!!!

I grew up in Cali,(til age 15) and went to DL every year with my Mom, That is the reason for our trip to the World, Mom never got to the World, she always wanted to take us there. I loved California! I wish I could have grown up next to DL. We also went to Knott's Berry Farm (3 times), Marineland, Universal (2 times), and the Movieland Wax Museum. It was fantastic. I want to make it back some day. DH has never been out there either. There is so much I'd like to do. I wish I had more time and more money.

We'll both have DParents there is spirit, won't we. That would be a long drive. I thought ours was bad enough. I bet you are glad to fly!!

I am making a lot of new friends here at DISboards. It's great!!!

First off, we are planning a DISmeet at POR. It will be from 4 - 6 PM on Tue, September 9th. Everyone is welcome. The thread is listed in my siggie. Please join us if you will be around at that time.

We are having lunch with a DISceleb - Glendamax at EP on Monday. That evening We will be meeting up with The4princesses and Wannabe Belle and their family. This is just great. This is going to be the best vacation ever. You just don't know how thrilled I am!!

An update on my DH, Doug. We went to see his surgeon yesterday morning. (It is past midnight now.) He has 3 small tumors that are regrowths from his previous brain tumor. Surgery is not required. Chemo. is. We will be going to IU Medical Center for a consultation. The type of chemo. will be a pill form called Temodar. It has minimal side affects. We don't know at this point whether radiation will also be required. This definitely took a load off of Doug's shoulders. Now we don't have to worry about coming back from our fabulous vacation and facing surgery and uncertainty.

Well I was expecting my GPS to arrive yesterday. And wouldn't ya' know, we were gone 3 hrs, back at 1045AM and FedEx had already been here. I have to sign for the package. They will return today. Any other time they don't get here until afternoon.

So happy to hear that DH doesn'y have to have surgery. That news should make your trip a little more relaxing.
I bet you'll have a great time with GlenMax. She sounds like she is a lot of fun. You'll have to take lots of pics and do a report when you get back. Is she going to the DISmeet at POR?


We are down to 7 weeks! I've got so much to do between now and when we leave that it will go by fast.

Great news about Doug! I hope everything turns out well for the both of you.

I want to meet GlendaMax! Awww... I'm jealous! She seems like she would be a hoot to be with. Her stories about her Mom just cracked me up!

I just found out yesterday that my sister from Ohio is going to WDW in September. The 22nd-27th, though. I feel pretty bad, because I think she missed out on free dining. Even though I sent her an email waaaay back when it was announced. I also gave her the link to the DIS. Who knows, maybe she'll get hooked, too!

Doreen - Yep WDW will be sooooo much better now!!! I don't know if Gmax will have time to do the meet. She is going to be so busy meeting DISpeeps. I'll make sure she knows about it. Tomorrow will be exactly 50 days for us.

I got my GPS today. I have to look at the DVD that came with it. I will test it tomorrow to see if it can direct me to work.

Unfortunately, she's not the one going with me. My older DD is away in college, and she only comes home every other weekend, or so. But, I will start on one soon. Maybe next weekend. Thanks for the encouragement though!

I always stock up on Molly's candles, 12 for $36 plus tax. They're in pint jars but they burn forever and smell wonderful.

I will have to look out for those candles.

We also go to the cheese shop - Das Kase House. They make the cheese there and it is very good. The prices are decent too.

The cheese is good and I enjoy watching it being made.

We usually eat in Middlebury at a diner in town. It's Amish and yummy. Kind of a local place so the prices are good there too. The homemade pies are to die for!!!!

I have ate there. The chicken is great.

Hvn Fun - The candles are towards the sale barn side of the flea market. They are in a building about halfway down the aisle. They will give you a box to put them in if you ask for one. You can also take back the empty jars for $3 off your next purchase. Here's a link: http://www.mollyssoybeancandles.com/ Like I said, at Shipshewana they are only $3 ea. You can mix and match scents. They are sold elsewhere, but usually not at the wholesale price.

HS - I am enjoying your TR. I'm going nuts. I just can't wait. I'm reading as many TRs as I can and getting more and more excited each time. My co-worker says I'll be losing my mind by the time our vacation gets here. He's probably right.

Thanks for letting me know about the candles. $3 is a bargain. I really like the way soy candles burn. My daughter lives in Granger, IN. We were just talking about going to Shipshewanna. I'lll have to talk to her and see when we can go. I am running out of summertime. I am a school nurse and we start back Aug. 18th. I will be in Florida Aug. 6th to the 15th. I hope she has a Tues. or Wed. off. Where did my summer go?

One more thing. I bought a bag for this trip and then decided it was too big. I followed your tip about shoebuy.com and ordered a Baggelini Messenger bag. Thank you for writing about it.

Sorry about the short summer. I'll fess up - I was hoping it would go fast so MY vacation would hurry up and get here - I's all my fault. At least you get to end yours with a big bang! Have a great time. You will be doing a TR, correct??? I gotta know the last minute buzz before I go.

I figured since I saw a reference to me I should at least sign on to your PTR. Glad the news was good about your hubby. You found some great pics of POR I hadn't come accross before. We're staying at it for the first time this trip too.
