ADRs that require 6 mo. notice?

We are still a little up in the air about our Disney plans. We are trying to secure more reasonable airfare for April. If we are unable to do so, we plan to drive, which will cut our time in Disney by a couple of days. Since SW doesn't post their April fares until 11/8, we are playing the waiting game.

Anyway, I figured I'd try to book those places that are necessary to book 6 mo. in advance. I know Cinderella's Royal Table is one, and I imagine Hoop de Doo, but what else requires such advance notice?

Thanks for your help!

All character meals definetly do, and I believe that any table service restaraunts do. Especially in April...I would make them if I didn't need them, fine, but I would rather be safe than sorry:) Enjoy your time..I wish Airtran and Jetblue would post theirs in Novemeber, but I know they won't...

Besides character meals, you will need to book Le Cellier (Epcot-Canada) right away if you want to eat there. Personally, I would book everything, just making sure to put your most favorite ones on the days you know you will definitely be there whether you fly or drive. If you end up driving, you can call and cancel the ADRs you made for those days. That way you are covered and you will get everything you want. If you want, you may still be able to get all of the other places you want but you might not get the times you want so better to be safe and do it at 180 days (180+10 if staying onsite).

CRT and Hoop-de-Doo would be the ones I would think of, although my guess would be Victoria and Albert's would be a similar kind of situation.

Overall, it is better to make all reservations sooner rather than later, but I disagree that ALL character meals need to be reserved at 180 days out. I usually wait until about 2 months before and have had no problems with places like Chef Mickey's. And I always going during spring break or during the summer. But if you already know where and when you want to eat, go ahead and reserve those places too, even if they aren't the top ressie getters. Have fun! :wizard:

it depends on what meal you are trying for. An early breakfast probably does require the full 180 days out. The last two years we have gotten lunch with a much shorter time frame. In both cases the lunch was at a reasonable time (before 1:00 PM) and we had a couple of days to choose from. This past year we considered dinner until we found out that it wasn't really a character meal and they still had slots open. Both trips were in the summer so I assume they would be consider relatively heavy crowd periods.

On both trips we were also able to get some of the mainstays like Crystal Palace, Liberty Tree Tavern, Chef Mickey's (though we usually eat later there since we go on the day we're leaving) and 50s Prime Time Cafe.

I would say do it for every meal you "must" get into. I agree with the others that said reserve it now and you can always cancel certain ones if you decide to drive. I have learned to book the ones I want so that no one is disappointed. Have fun planning!

Just so you know, I booked Cape May Cafe breakfast, Donald's Safari breakfast (AK), both about 1 month out and got pretty close to the time I wanted. I remember that Boma's, LeCellier, and Coral Reef (dinner only) were definite 6 month reservations, but Coral Reef for lunch I've gotten at about a month.

I'd say CRT, Le Cellier, Chef Mickey's and Whispering Canyon Cafe are most popular generally.

I would add Boma to the list. We always book 180 days out yet wanted to make a change. Even though we were still a long way off from our trip, we could not get Boma for Dinner even though i called and called and called...

I would definitely throw 'Ohana in there as well. That place is becoming very difficult to get in to.
