I just booked a last minute trip for just my DD and myself and I didn't really want to be on a schedule. We may do all CS or add a couple of TS but won't really know until we get there. I don't mind eating at off times and we will be there right at the end of free dining (Sept 29-Oct 3). The 2 TS that I am interested in trying is Whispering Canyon and PT Cafe...does anyone know if it is hard to get a table for 2 or should I plan ahead (I always plan ahead for our longer trips!)

When we were at WDW in June, even groups of 2 were being turned away from TS restaurants. So, if you want them, make the ADRs.

Those two, in particular, can get VERY busy, even for 2 people. I would try and make an ADR.

The two places you are looking to eat are quite popular, no matter what size group. I would strongly suggest you call today to make your reservations.

DH and I weren't turned away anywhere during our last visit (late April/early May 2006)--made only one ADR beforehand. I would make ADRs for the 2 restaurants that you really want, and play the rest by ear. I hate being scheduled too, but even for a short trip like yours, I don't think 2 meals is too much to work with. :)

I would make them just to be on the safe side especially if you are really looking forward to it!

I would make at least the 2 ADR's your looking forward to eating at. I am going to during the same time frame. I had everything planned out but my cousin wanted to change somethings around and when I tried calling to get differnt ADR's I wasn't having any luck. So I would say if your only looking at 2 ADR's that's not to much planning. I'd make them and then play the rest by "ear". Good Luck!

Personally, I wouldn't take the risk.. Being turned away, or asked to return 1-2 hours later can certainly waste a considerable amount of time. As long as you don't care if you eat TS or CS, you could chance it. But, if you really would like a nice sit down meal in air conditioning, I'd suggest that you plan ahead.

I was a bit surprised at my recent trip the numbers of folks who were
winging it, and were turned away at the door. Couples, families of 4, it wasn't a matter of group size. It was that all the ressies were taken.

You are going right at the beginning of the Food and Wine Festival. A very busy time at Disney. I would call and see if you can even get the ressies you are looking for.

Dining at Disney has changed drastically over the past 2 years. Where once winging it was fine and easy to get a ressie, things sure have changed!

I tried calling for an ADR at Kona Cafe for a Tuesday night, Sept 11 and it was booked until 8:30! This is the same place in January we were able to book with a day's notice with my choice of times.

If you have must do's, make an ADR. If you are ok with CS or what is available, call that day, check with your hotel concierge or park guest services to see what is available.

Good luck and have fun, sounds like a great trip in the making

We travel as a party of 2 a lot. It didn't matter what size the party was the last two trips I made to Disney, they weren't even asking the size, there were not any available tables.

Everyone in the park on any given day could have made priority ressies 180 days before. If you think about it like that, then the reality of needing reservations is more obvious. The word about needing priority reservations continues to spread, more people make them, and the end result is less and less walk in availability anywhere. It's not good or bad, it's just reality.

I'll be there the same time you will (Sept 29th-Oct 7th) and have ADRs for both Whispering Canyon and Prime Time for two people. I've called numerous times in the last 1 1/2 months trying to get a later time for WC, with no luck. I currently have a 5:00pm ADR on 10/05. Now my Prime Time I just got about a month ago for 10/02. I did have an ADR for Mama Melrose and switched to PT. Again the time is not the greatest (4:55pm), but that's all that was available. People are trying to rearrange their ADRs all the time, so I'd just keep trying. I definitely wouldn't try to wing it though, if there was a particular place I wanted to eat.

You said that you will be there at the end of free dining, but don't forget free dining lasted longer for the UK and Bounce Back offers. In fact, I have free dining for my entire trip due to the Bounce Back Program and I'm checking in on the last possible day. I know others are doing the same thing, so ADRs are scarce.

Since Disney is so good at the family-thing, you will find that there is a small number of ADRs for parties of 2, so definitely make your ressies.

Can you get the PT Cafe menu next door at the bar at the Tune In Lounge? When my wife and I were still just a party of 2, we used to eat at the bar of places like Cali Grille or Portobello Yacht Club if we didn't have ADRs
