I am so sorry to post so many questions tonight (most of which I should know about!). It is just I have hit that planning time! :headache:

Which ADRs or bookings do you need to pay for upfront. I'm hoping nothing dining wise as we are on DDP but I'm a bit confused.

The ones I think may be an issue are:

Cinderella's Royal Table

Be Our Guest

Wishes Cruise

BBB x 2 children

I intend to ring up and book everything I can, so I'm sure the CM will keep me right, but ideally I'd like to know if I have to pay for anything at the time for booking.

Thank you for your help!

As you are on the DDP then there will be no up front cost unless they have changed the wishes cruises since we did it.

Thanks Elise! That is good to know.

For ADR'S you will not be charged anything. I have never booked BBB but I'm pretty sure it has zero link to your ADR bookings and I imagine you will have to pay for this or at least a deposit in advance. It's not a meal.

Even with the DDP all ADRs require a credit card deposit as you will be charged for late cancellation or no show.

Wishes Cruises, BBB, Barbour shop (I guess), spa booking etc all follow the same pattern of needing a credit card to secure to the booking with varying cancellation policies of either 24 hours or 48 hours.

Fairly sure from what others have said, that you just secure with credit card and pay up on the day for BBB as there may be some flex in the package you book? :confused3

I said I wasn't going to book BBB - done it before at DLP, and book Pirates League mermaid makeover instead, but when I've looked at our plans, BBB would fit in better as we can (fingers crossed) try and fit it in with CRT and also a FP for Elsa and Anna on the same day. I know, I am really pushing my luck with all those things coming through for me on one day, but I live in hope! :rotfl2:

That's not quite right. With DDP you leave your credit card number for an ADR but you only get charged the deposit if you are a no show and fail to cancel in the required timeframe. You never pay the deposit if you show up. Without the DDP your CC is charged the deposit when you book.

we did get charged for one no show from DD's trip in november, even though she made it to every ADR.
So i called up disney and they reversed the $20 charge on my credit card.

Am I right if you booked for say 8 people and 1 shows that's ok and you don't get charged?

It's is secured with a card that's bad wording by me - I'm never really sure what Disney call it!

That is what I meant but deposit was the wrong word. You secure every reservation with a CC.

Yes as long as someone shows there is no charge :goodvibes

This is what worries me - I have read about quite a few instances where Disney have charged even when people have showed. It's really poor imo. And I'm guessing that unless you get a fee free card then there is a fee associated with foreign transactions too! :confused3 I am presuming Disney will refund these as well if it is their error?

We never use credit cards - DH has one purely for business travel which we will probably use but I know it does have a foreign transaction fee so in the above instance we would be charged. The thing is, I can't see the point of applying for another fee free card when we won't use it much over there :rolleyes1.

Thanks for all the replies anyway.

They won't refund the fees.

I would apply for the fee free card if you can get one - you just never know and it's piece of mind. I personally would travel to the U.S. Without a credit card.

Also we have had probably in the region of 40-50 ADRs since the policy change and so far not one charge. We have change party sizes at check in as well without issue. :)

i have a US AMEX so there are no fees when i use it in the US (or overseas, since it's a foreign transaction fee free card)

as far as reversing the no show, she was very nice about it.
didn't question it at all.
(though i could have provided her with DD's receipts as well as pictures from every restaurant :0)

Personally I wouldn't travel to the USA without a decent credit card (I use a Post Office one) for good exchange rates and no fees as you never know what unexpected bills may occur while away.

Last year I had to take my daughter to A&E and the resort Manager who took us there told me to pick up travel insurance documents and a credit card. First question asked on arrival was to contact our insurance company or confirm that I would pay any bills before they would see my daughter.

I keep this credit card with my travel documents and only use it while away or if buying tickets from USA before departure and rarely use it in the UK. It is also linked to my Disney booking and used to pay any bill on departure.

Just a thought.

Thanks - we do have a credit card as I said earlier - well DH does, but it's not fee free for abroad. I can't see the point of applying for another credit card when we will only use it for this holiday - don't like applying for too many of these things - strange I know!

But I take the point about having something for emergencies, so we had planned to take DH's card 'just in case'.

Does anyone know - as I will be booking ADRs and will need CC to confirm them, can I use DH's card as I don't have one myself? Will this cause a problem?

Elise - I would hope that WDW would refund the whole transaction if it is their error. I recently had an issue with DLP where we were charged for something they couldn't fulfill. I had to contact them for a refund and politely pointed out that I had fees on top which my bank had charged, and that I would like a total refund considering it was their error - they did refund all, including the fee. It is the least they can do if it's their fault I would think!

Hopefully it won't even be an issue for us, but I think you've been lucky not to have any charges in that time - I read of it quite often with WDW dining!
