I'll be at Disney World January 12-20, 2009 (for my wedding and honeymoon!).

I've never been there that time of year, but for the most part I've heard it's not too crowded. Are ADR's still necessary at most places?

We've made reservations for our actual wedding related meals since we'll have a big party--but I'm not sure about just the two of us. I tend to think "better safe than sorry"...but we also like the idea of having some flexibility.

We're thinking lunch or dinner at Sci-Fi Dine In (fiance is a total sci-fi geek...I've told him it is ALL about the atmosphere there ;) ), Boma, Rose & Crown, Yak and Yeti, and probably some other World Showcase places.

What do you think?? Should we make the reservations just in case?

THANKS!

If you have an idea of where you will be on each day, I'd go ahead and make ADRs for at least the in-park restaurants. They tend to book up faster than the resort ones. You can always cancel, but you don't want to be stuck with nowhere to eat if you don't have some plans in place.

It seems not to matter anymore what time of year you go, restaurants are filling up regardless of crowd sizes. I would make reservations if I were you. They can always be canceled or changed but if you don't have any you coud end up stuck.

With that being said though parties of 2 are usually easier to seat last minute and lunches are always much easier to get into than dinner. HTH!

We go every year in Jan and were there in 2008 in mid Jan, the week leading up to MLK weekend. We did walkups at several places, including Le Cellier. Even at the places where we had ADR's, we saw many people being seated as walkups. The only restaurant that was full was Ca Grill. We were a party of 4.

This was true all week. MLK weekend, however, was extremely crowded and I would not recommend trying to go without ADR's on the weekends.

I would still try to get some ADRs. We're going Jan 9-16, and I called a month after the 180 day mark and was having trouble getting all the ADRs we wanted. Our party of 7 has to be split at a couple restaurants and we had to change our schedule/days to get some of the restaurants we wanted.

We'll be arriving a few days after you leave. I was not able to get all the ADR's I wanted and am still looking for someone to trade a Fantasmic dinning package with me for Jan 26. I think my problem is that we are a party of 3. You should go ahead and make adr's for the restaurants you most want to eat at, you can always cancel later if you need. Have fun on your trip.

Definetly make ADR's for your must do restaurants. It's your honeymoon and you want it to be extra special so why risk there being no availability? Also, Congrats!

I would book at least one ADR a day that way you know you will eat somewhere. I think although an above poster was lucky to see and get walkups - You may not be able to eat where you want to.

Have fun. Congrats!
