ADR's full at 180 days out? Really?

How is it that some places at exactly 180 days out are showing no times available, except for lunch time and late afternoon? I really find it hard to believe the dinner times are full when I check from time to time after midnight. How many just give up and try to do walk up's without a ADR?
The restaurant in question here is T-rex.

Ugh I've felt your pain. Problem is with your 180 landing in the middle of a million other trips whose 180 was before. Like those lucky people who get to stay more then 6 days.

Id do a stand by for trex

Call TRex directly. They take some reservations on their own. Not every slot is given to the Disney ADR system.

The reservation system does not turn over to the next day until around 6 AM, so looking just after midnight is inaccurate.

TRex only gives a small percentage of their tables to Disney Dining. Call them directly and you will most likely get an ADR right away.

With the 180 + 10 for Disney resort guests, folks may have been making ADR's for the restaurant you want for up to 10 days before you. It is entirely possible for a restaurant to fill to capacity.

Trex only releases a limited number of tables to Disney. They keep the majority for themselves. Call directly and you should not have a problem getting the date and time you want.

The problem you are having is that you are looking after midnight, and the next day is not loaded into the system until 6 AM Eastern. But if you want T-Rex, call T-Rex - don't do it through Disney.

I really feel your pain. I wanted O'hanas for dinner and I planned it perfectly when making my reservations 180 days out. I got on the website and at the reservations at 6:01am...they only had 9:20 available. Just a table for two.

So, I start calling at 6:55am, redialing and get in at 7am. By 7:01 I'm telling the CM on the phone I really want O'hanas, she checks and she says there is no availability

It has to do with being able to book your ADRs if you have a package with Disney. To me, it lessens the availability when they do this. At the same time, I can see why it's a hassle to have to call each day you are 180 days out. I wish they could figure out a way. It was just really frustrating for me. BUT I am not going to let it ruin my vacation. I'm leaving in a few weeks and I'm super excited!

Also, it seems to be getting increasingly common (and to some DISers, increasingly annoying) for some restaurants to not make their seatings available in the system right at the 180 mark. They don't appear until some unknown time later.

The truth is, VERY few locations will actually fill all their tables at the 180 day mark, and most of those only fill for especially busy times of year.

It's safe to say, if you can't get a table for four at Olivia's at 2pm on a Thursday afternoon in January, it isn't because the place is fully booked!

Now I know why my DH walked into our room at 6:59 and walked out again................really fast. He came back in a little while later but did not seem reassured

I had the same issue 2 years ago and had no problem getting a reservation when I called TRex directly
