ADR's for off site folks

We are heading to Disney in August of 2008. I have been reading about ADR's being available 180 days before your trip, but am not sure if you have to be staying on site or not. We are renting a house in the Orlando area, but are not staying at a Disney resort. Can anyone tell me if we can still book our reservations this far in advance? We have a large group and I would like to get us in if possible. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me. ALso, any suggestions where to take a group of about 15 kids ranging in ages from 3 to 17? Thanks!!!

Yes - anyone can make a reservation 180 days out from the day they would like to dine.

Hmm. I think Chef Mickey's is a great character meal for a large group of varied ages and genders.

'Ohana would be fun for a big group (dinner) and a great atmosphere for lots of kids.

Coral Reef might be good, too. They could seat you at those big booths facing the tank so the kids are entertained yet confined (I work with kids, too, and love when I can pack them in a booth so we don't play musical chairs!)

We are staying off site too. I have been really busy planning our park days and making ADR's, cancelling ADR's and rebooking ADR's!

Fun places for kids: Planet Hollywood, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Poly Luau,
50's Prime Time Cafe, Sci Fi, & Liberty Tree Tavern!

Make your ADR's ASAP. You can always cancel and rebook later.

Thanks so much for the quick responses. I will look into those restaurants and get moving on my reservations. We are down to 161 days at this point, so here's hoping I can get in where we want. I 've heard you need to book quickly for some of the places.
