ADRs at Disneyland

I have a couple of questions. I have been to Disneyland a few times before, but never stayed onsite. We therefore have only used counter service in the parks. This time round we are staying at Grand Californian and will eat at least some meals on property. I assume that it is possible to do ADRs for Disneyland. How long before your stay can you do them? Is it possible to do them online like for WDW or do I have to ring? If I have to ring, is it the same phone number that I would use for WDW?

They do have something like ADRs at Disneyland, but depending on the time of year you are going and the restaurant you are going to, they may not be necessary. You do have to call to make reservations. You can call starting 60 days in advance ( believe, someone please correct me if I am wrong). And the number you call is 714-781-3463. Good luck!

Thanks for the information. We are going from September 26th to October 2nd and October 9th to 13th.

I wouldn't feel pressed to make reservations 60 days out unless it is on a very busy day. But I wouldn't plan to walk up any time to eat just because it's a slow day. I'd make on a week or so out for the time I'd like to eat.

If you are staying at the Grand, you can call Vacation Planning and they will make your ADRs for you. Just tell them where you want to eat and when, and they will take good care of you!

Thanks for the additional information. I want a couple of character breakfasts (probably Goofy's Kitchen and Storyteller's Cafe) and a dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. Apart from this we will have dinner onsite after our vow renewal.

On May 17th you can make priority seating reservations for July 17th.

Thanks for the information. I have added the email address to my vacation folder. Yes, it will definitely easier to sort out things by email. I get free calls to the USA, but the time difference and me working shifts makes it difficult to do stuff via the phone.

This one always requires a reservation.

Things with dining are much, much different at DL than WDW. I went last summer and found that reservations were not really necessary with the exception of Blue Bayou. You might want to make them if it'll be of concern though.

You've probably already discovered this in your research, but you can get waterside if you make the reservation for 11:30 and check in by 11:20. At least it worked like a charm when we went for my son's birthday a couple of weeks ago. We've eaten in Blue Bayou waterside and not waterside, and it's much better waterside.

I know some people think you don't really need reservations at DL, but I always think you should have reservations in place. We have little kids, and even a wait of 15 minutes can turn into a meltdown when they're hungry. There's no cost associated with reservations, and we've shown up 20 minutes late and they still honor the reservation. I think they understand that people can miscalculate the length of a line or get stuck somewhere else in the park.

ETA: Napa Rose is the other place that you really need a reservation for. Especially on the weekend, they often won't have space for walk ins. You can eat at the bar, however, with a more limited menu.

Even when you have ADR's you could wait a bit of time. We have found that if you make the reservations close to the time when the restaurant opens, like 11:00 for Blue Bayou, you will be seated close to when you expected. Good luck.
