ADRs and 'Travel-With' Number?

I will be calling Saturday morning to make the ADRs for our group of seven (two families). We are staying on property.

When the other mom called to get some info, she was given a 'travel with' number that links up our two groups: this number is different from her confirmation number. I have also called ... twice in fact ... and when I have asked about this 'travel with' number, neither of the CMs I spoke with had even heard of such a thing.

Now, in addition to this 'travel with' number, I also have her confirmation number. Is that confirmation number the right number to use when I call for our ADRs on Saturday?

Thanks so much!

I'm confused?!?!

Why do you even need her confirmation number? Don't you have a confirmation number of your own?

I'm assuming that you will all be eating together and that your reservations will be for a group of seven (both families) all dining together. If that is the case everything will be put under your information and you don't need hers.

If you are making her dining reservations separate from your dining reservations then you would need her information but if that is the case if probably would be best to have her call and make her own dining reservations.

I don't know what the technical term is for the travel number, but what it does is link your reservations - you are considered as a Grand Gathering and could choose to do some of the special Grand Gathering activities. If you go to the Walt Disney World website and search on Grand Gatherings you can find out more.

We were there a few weeks ago for DDs HS band trip. A few families had our reservations linked. We ended up NOT doing any of the Grand Gathering activities because of the cost. But, it was interesting, two families were staying at the same hotel and they put our rooms next to each other.

Thanks to both of you experts for your answers!

I do have my own confirmation number; I thought it might be helpful when making the reservations to also have there's ... not really sure why, now that I think of it ..

And I thought a Grand Gathering minimum was eight people? But your explanation of how your friends' rooms were near each other IS what we are planning as well.

Thanks, again!

You are welcome - I am not sure if was considered Grand Gathering or not - but we did have more than 8 people. Good Luck!

A travel with number functions the same as a Grand Gathering number and is used even when your party is less than 8 people. Basically it gets your rooms assigned together. To book Grand Gathering Experiences, at least 8 paying guests from your group must participate.

You have zero need to know the travel with number. Its for res CM's to link your rooms together

I've done this and it was called linking reservations at that time. We got side by side rooms, but it wasn't guarenteed. That's all linking does. For ADRs, you just call and make them and give the number eating. They don't need to know any other details of your stay.
