ADRs and Spilt Stay Reservation

I don't know if anyone asked this or what the right answer would be. I have a room only reservation for 10 nights in Jan 2012. I was wondering, would anything happen if I made my ADRS at 180 days +10 out, then shortened my reservation later on for a split stay?

Changing or even canceling your resort reservation has no effect on ADRs that have already been made.
