We are there from August 25 to September 4 with the DDP. We are me, DH, DS (6 1/2 by then) and DD (5 by then)

Aug 26: lunch at Crystal Palace*
Aug 27: early dinner at Teppan Edo
Aug 28: dinner at Whispering Canyon (we're staying at WL)
Aug 29: early dinner at Sci Fi
Aug 30: breakfast at Tusker House
Aug 31: breakfast at Park Fare (DD adores Alice and Mary Poppins)
Sept 2: lunch at T-Rex (the kids loved this in Kansas City last summer)
Sept 4: late breakfast at Chef Mickeys

*I could get a breakfast, but not before rope drop and as we live in the UK I was afraid we'd be up and hungry way before the reservation I could get.

I'm not 100% sold on Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey. Convince me to keep them or to find something else. DD chose Alice over the princesses and DS chose Sci Fi after seeing the pictures.

Do you think it would be crazy to leave the other 2 TS credits per person until we are there and play them by ear? I'm not good at feeling tied down to plans.

Anywhere else we really should try?

Thanks from a newbie.

First things first :welcome: to the DISboards

To answer this part of your question, yes I think it would be crazy to leave 2 TS credits per person until arrival!

ESPECIALLY since free dining opens up on 8/25, no I would NOT leave those credits open. While it's great to be carefree on a vacation, you don't want to get stuck eating somewhere you would not have otherwise chosen.

Since you are at WL, have you considered Artist Point? I have not personally eaten there but it gets many good reviews. Another place near you would be the CaliGrill on top of the Contemporary Resort, again I have not eaten there (DS is too picky) but it has good reviews and you should be able to view MK fireworks if you time it correctly. These meals are more geared to adults but you do have 4 character meals planned for the children, however, if you are more interested in doing what is more fun for them, you may consider a dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table inside the castle at the Magic Kingdom. Your DD will enjoy seeing the princesses and it is a memorable experience to eat in the castle. I'm pretty sure all these suggestions are 2 TS credits which would use up the ones you have left. Perhaps Artist Point, but I seriously doubt you'd get the other 2 if you wait and just wing it.

Selecting 2 different TS at Epcot's worldshow case would also be a pleasant way to use those 2 credits and there are many to choose from, also several restaurants in the boardwalk area you can get to from the back entrance at EPCOT between England & France pavilions (Or take the bus to DHS and ride the boat over to the boardwalk area)

Last suggestion many people like Ohaua's at the Polynesian which is located close to your resort :thumbsup2

About Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's - opinions vary but these are the 2 places my picky DS15 still likes to go to and my DH and I have not experienced any unpleasant meals ever at either. They are serve yourself buffets which meats, salads, sides, breads, desserts and kid's pickings. We thoroughly enjoy the character interaction and I think your children will too.

If on DDP, I would probably book a dinner over a less expensive bfast, but since Chef Mickey is your last day and I'm guessing you'll be leaving soon after that meal, it might serve as a nice grand finale to a wonderful trip.

Do show up at least 15 minutes early as the charcter meals tend to be buzy and take a little extra time to seat, especially at the Crystal Palace.

Have a wonderful trip pixiedust:
