So, we head back to WDW in January for our 6th trip. I think I have our ADRs almost figured out, but would certainly take feedback, as our last visit was in Jan 2010, so I know there are always changes in the world!

As context, we have 4 omnivores in the group (11, 13, 15, 47) and 3 vegans (17, 21, 45) - 2 of whom have dairy/egg allergies. We mostly eat breakfast at the condo/room, lunch with TS in the parks, and then have a light dinner back at the condo at night.

Arrival day - Sat. - dinner at O'hana (never done this one before)
Day 1 - Sun. - Epcot lunch - still can't figure this out and would take recs!
Day 2 - Mon. - MK - lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern
Day 3 - Tues. - DHS - lunch at 50s Prime Time, dinner at 1900s Park
Day 4 - Wed. - Off site
Day 5 - Thurs - AK - Trying for Tusker House, but no dice so far. Have backup ADR at Rainforest
Day 6 - Fri - Epcot/MK - lunch snacking around the world

Thoughts? Lay it on me!

At Epcot we have eaten at Coral reef (nice atmosphere, decent food), Le Cellier (excellent), Tutto Italia (very good), and Teppan Edo (our family favourite). I'm not sure if Teppan Edo is open for lunch, but IMO it would be the best choice, considering you have some people in your party who do not eat meat. The food there is very fresh, and the chefs can be very entertaining while cooking. As much as I love Le Cellier, I think Tutto Italia would be a better choice for your group. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks, TinkandGoofy'sMom!
I'll pass those thoughts on to the cast of thousands and see what they have to say :)

Vegans don't just avoid meat, they don't eat any animal products at all. At Teppan Edo (which does serve lunch) they'll cook vegetables for them before they cook anything else, but there's been some discussion about whether or not it is possible to avoid all cross-contamination on the grills, so it's possible their meals may be prepared in the kitchen. I know a lot of restaurants will prepare special meals for vegans but I haven't heard specifically about the ones mentioned.

I haven't personally dined there, but Via Napoli might be a good choice, particularly if they have vegan cheese (I have read of some other restaurants having it, but not sure if Via Napoli does). That way they could build a pizza with tons of veggies of their liking, without being locked into the one set vegan entree.

My favorite meal was at Rose and Crown (I'm a vegetarian), but I read a slightly less enthusiastic review when the entree was made vegan.

Vegan cheese would definitely be a new thing from our last visit. I'll have to investigate :) The three vegans don't mind having a couple of meals where we end up eating side dishes, but since we only do 1 meal out per day, we always like to find a place where everyone is happy. Oh! and I went ahead and made an ADR at Rose & Crown for our Epcot day. If I come up with a better plan, I'll change it, but DH and DS3 & 4 were drooling over the non-veg choices there.

If you can't get Tusker House at AK, I would highly recommend Yak&Yeti at AK. It's a restaurant that routinely get destroyed on these boards, but we have all loved the selection and the food for the past several trips.

Boma at the AKL is a great buffet, as well, and would have great options for your varied party.

Have fun!

I've definitely read of someone having a pizza made with vegan cheese at Mama Melrose in DHS...that might be a rarity though. You should check out the vegetarian/vegan dining thread - they're full of great info over there!

kshattuck,
Thanks for telling me your experience with Yak and Yeti. We went their shortly after it opened and did not enjoy it at all, so we haven't gone back, but maybe we should give it another try! Or, maybe we should do an early dinner at Boma and then head back to the parks :)
