We will be going the dreaded Thanksgiving week and the last time I went was in 05 and it seems like back then most places you could only make ADRS 90 days out but none the less since I am going that busy week I was wondering since I am in CA and have to call at practically 4 a.m. should I wait until after my LAST day of that entire week to call for the entire trip or should I start calling on the first day and call for each day or how should I handle this?

Usually I have gone in off times so I never worried and should I only worry about say Thanksgiving day and call starting 180 days from that day forward?

HELP!!!!

I thought that if you call 180 days out(from the first day of your stay)you can make all your ADR's for that week.

I would make my ADR's for Thanksgiving week at 180 days out. Not only for Thanksgiving Day, but the entire week I would have an ADR for each day. You could always cancel if your plans change.

Well here is the rub. We are staying in a timeshare for the first part and staying at pop Century at the END of the week. We don't check in till AFTER Thanksgiving. I assume we have to be staying onsite the entire time right? We are going for 10 days. We are staying at the Doubletree at Universal for the first two days the 20th and 21st Then check into our timeshare on the 22nd and check out on the 29th and check in to pop on the 29th and are there through the 1st. We did this so that we could fly in to Orlando BEFORE the holiday weekend and have a few days at UO and so that we weren't flying out of Orlando on that busy weekend. We will be flying out on that Monday.

So that was my question. Should I wait and make all my ADRs 180 days from Dec 1st, from Nov 27th which is Thanksgiving day and then call again for the weekend days cuz we plan to be in the parks those days as well for Candlelight procession and such or what? I am so confused???

Call on as many individual days as you have to, starting at as early a date as you can.

So I should start calling starting from day one and call on each subsquent day then? So for example my first park day is Nov 23 so I should call 180 days from the 23rd and so forth on? I know I can do that I was just hoping I wouldn't have to but if you think it will be that bad I will do what I have to do if that week is that bad! I know I will def have to do it for thanksgiving day and for candlelight procession I just thought maybe for regular old dinners on the other days I could wait and make those all at once when I made the others but if you think it will be bad then I will call every day if I need to.

Yup.

And be sure and ask the CM on the phone if you can make more ressies earlier than you think.

That's what I was afraid of. That stinks. Esp since I am calling from CA and it is SO early and of course long distance but oh well. Gotta do what I gotta do.

I call on my "free long-distance" cellphone.

Why not borrow one to make the calls?

Definitely call at 180 days from each day of your trip!!!! We were there Thanksgiving week '07 and it was so hard getting ADRs after that point! The time-zone issue definitely isn't in your favor, so have your coffee pot ready to brew at 3:45! :) Good luck getting your ressies!

And remember; from the first day you are at POP, you will be able to do all the rest at once based on your first day there. (So at least you can sleep in a couple of days.)

There might be better answers to this from the dining experts over on the Dining & Restaurants board here on the DIS.. I'm going to scoot this one over there for the best advice!
