My experiences at both DL and WDW:
The majority of the time, we have been seated within 10 minutes (15 minutes max) of when we were supposed to be seated (actual reservation time). Actually being able to put in our order and getting our food is all over the place though. I try to check in as soon as we can if possible (20 minutes before), and usually are seated a few minutes before the reservation time, or a few minutes after.
There have been exceptions that I can remember:
1) Trader Sam's in DLH -- waited over 30 minutes from our reservation time to finally get seated (indoors). It was a nice day, so it wasn't too bad. This was recently. We were not comped or anything.
2) Diamond Horseshoe in WDW -- waited nearly 45 minutes to get seated. I believe we had a fastpass reservation that was going to expire because of the delay, I think we were able to get on the attraction but it was close. They comped us for part of the meal, which was nice. We were only two people, and even though there were 4 person tables available, they insisted on waiting until a 2 person table was open before seating us. For whatever reason that day, the 2 person groups were taking forever. This was before pandemic.
