ADR wait times have been terrible.

I am not sure if this is the usual. But we have not been seated for all our ADR’s until more than 30 minutes after checkin, and then not even served for almost an hour…..

Is this normal? So advice to all, make your ADR at least 30 minutes before you actually want to be seated…..

Last Friday we were seated at LLL within 3 minutes of checking in for our 12:55pm reservation- we had checked in a few minutes early and were actually seated around 12:50. Ordering and food were acceptably paced as well for a table service. However, I know we had one of the last reservations for brunch and they do not seat between 1pm and 2pm as they switch over the menu. So perhaps we had the advantage of them wanting to get the last brunch tables wrapped up and an overall less busy staff? That was our only ADR for our last minute trip so I can't speak to any other locations.

Sorry you're having such a rough go with all of yours!

OP, I would not consider your experiences the usual or particularly acceptable, but there do seem to be more cases of overbooking when taking into account staffing at the DLR restaurants lately. That said we have not so far waited as long as you described at any of our reservations for places like Lamplight or Carnation Cafe since the parks reopened. We did typically experience those (and longer) waits for seating on Thanksgiving most years because they almost always overbook, and I suspect that happens on other holidays as well.

Maybe it depends on how busy they are on any given day. We only used ADRs for Oga's and we waited about 15 minutes the first time and 10 the second time.

I hope the rest of your ADRs go more smoothly and that you're having a great trip!

That was not our experience a couple of weeks ago. We got into Blue Bayou, Trader Sam's, and Magic Key with little to no wait. The crowds were pretty high then, too, so I'm guessing it's more of a staffing issue. I'm sorry--that really cuts into your park time!

Ugh this stinks! We are super lucky that this hasn't happened much at DL but boy did it to us in DW this year. We had the worst luck! Numerous restaurants for up to an hour after our ADR.

Are you checking in on the app 20 minutes early like it says you can? You should be, if you haven't. We only ate at Storytellers brunch but were seated within a minute of checking in on the app.

Trader Sam's is notorious for this, but LLL is usually much quicker than your experience. Guessing it's more of that "staffing issues." So sorry! This is also kind of why we stick to QS at Disneyland, for the most part. Sit down meals do tend to have slow service everywhere, although I've never waited that long just to be seated.

Last week, we checked in for Trader Sam's, Napa Rose, Lamplight Lounge. We received notice that our table was ready w/in 10 minutes. Carthay Circle burned us by cancelling us after we checked in. While I understand that stuff happens, they left us very disappointed in how they handled the situation. It was essentially a "sorry," shoulder shrug, and zero attempt to actively help us solve their issue by trying to find us a table elsewhere.

That’s terrible! They should have seated you anyway!

Not normal. Even on our ridiculously crowded trip last October, we didn't have long waits for our ADRs. I will say historically, Blue Bayou we had to wait 20-30 minutes past our ADR time multiple times. That is the only place at DLR, I can recall really long waits. WDW is another story--we've had some pretty long waits certain places there. Typically we are pleased at DLR because they generally run on time. .

Sorry you are having bad luck in that area. I hope your trip is otherwise going great.

Here is the rundown.

LLL : 30 min after ADR seated , over 2 hours to get back out the door from ADR time.

TS: 45 minutes to be seated from ADR, out the door about 1 & 1/2 hours after ADR (thry knew I was kinda upset . The check in person asked us if bar top was fine , but neglected to ask us if all our party was over 21, which they were not. So they gave our table away to 2 other parties before fixing it. I only know this because I hears the main waitresa basically chew out the other two at the reservations checking for not asking anyone about the ages in the groups.
Food was great however….

Carnation Cafe: Seated within seconda of early checkin, food delivered promtly and we even got a table to watch MSEP from while eating….

So its been a mixed bag.

The issue is, if you have a problem , it backs up all your LL and other plans quite a bit.

Labrea seated us 10 minutes before the ADR, the chef sat us himself….

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s also a staffing issue. A lot of Disney CMs are out cause they have Covid

If you have a minor in your group, the ADR wait time at Trader Sam’s is a joke. We waited over 45 minutes to be seated. I think they hope you will give up and leave.

The thing that got us is they kept asking if we had a reservation, which we did. Then they said that our assigned table was still occupied. That one got to me because when we were seated, we were promptly told that they have “a 90 minute experience.”

They clearly were having the staffing/newbie issues when we went but their attitude needed adjusting.

It is also caused when people linger, and the table doesn't free up when expected. Most of the Disney table service restaurants estimate a 60 or 90 min turn on tables. So, when guests linger, it pushes the group behind them out further.

As far as Carthay, there was an emergency closure on July 30th about 1p. This closed both Carthay side and the Club 33 side of the restaurant (1901). It reopened on the 31st.
