I would love to get into the Coral Reef for dinner on 6/19 but it is sold out. I have back up ressies at another place, but I'm still trying. Any tips on how to snag a last minute ADR? Is there a "good" time to call? This has become my personal challenge in life! :hourglass

because there's no penalty for no-shows, there's no magic time. you just have to keep trying.

Juat show up when they open and ask to be seated as a "walk-in" There's always room.

You will be waiting a very long time if you walk up to this resturant with out an ADR. But it is always possible to get a cancelled ADR, we were able to get one for 4 people during Free dining last september about 3 hrs before we wanted it.
Keep calling even up to the last minute to check for a cancellation.

We wanted to have dinner on our Aniversary June 14 and could not get one so we booked Lunch, we still would prefer dinner so we will keep trying, if we can't get one we will have a great lunch.

We wanted it for dinner too I think on May 26. It was all sold out too. We took lunch the day before. I had to change our plans a little but dh is happy because he really wanted to eat there, keep trying, call from your room daily etc. Pick a less busy time, late lunch etc. Best of luck.

We were trying to get a ressie at the San Angel Inn and the reservationist told me it was impossible for the two days I was checking on. So the next day I just went in and ask at the check in counter at the restaurant and he had the pretty much the whole day open. So if its feasible and you haven't gotten anything before maybe try checking at the restaurant.

We just returned this weekend after a two week stay. We ate at Coral Reef twice for dinner. Each time they were turning folks away who asked for a walk up. We ate there in February and were surprise to see the menu changed since February this year. (I didn't like the menu in February, so was glad to see it change). I would suggest the OP try for lunch. The menu choices are similar. I ate there for lunch in February and think I will only book lunches now. Dinner is mad crazy and the noise unbelieveable. While lunch is so quiet and relaxing. If anyone wants to eat there and can't get dinner, they should consider lunch. As for the menu change. I had the shrimp pasta in Feb and did not like it. It changed to a different type of shrimp pasts (w/penne pasta) and was much better. They also changed the deserts....the wave is there, the pineapplie cake is gone. They now have a jack daniels mousse...yum (I got it twice and it sure had a kick when you got to the JD part). We had the best service of all of the places (1TS) we ate. We had the best service at Narcossees (ate there twice).
