Ok, so, here goes it...

I bucked the tide of every single DISer EVER in existence ANYWHERE and made an ADR for San Angel Inn. Because I've always wanted to eat there, being completely enamored of the ambiance of the innards of the pyramid.

But.

My "sensible side" (read: LEFT BRAIN) has gotten the better of me and has put it's proverbial foot down and said: "Tink, you are NOT wasting a perfectly good TS credit on the DDP just for ambiance. Ambiance is NOT edible."

::sigh::

So I'm left with a TS meal to fill. In the Epicot area. We already have our other "must do" meals set up there: Tutto Italia and Le Cellier, so I have no idea where to eat.

Please. Help me.

Help me choose a GOOD replacement. Only two restaurants are specifically OUT:
Restaurant Marrakesh (my friend doesn't like Indian food) and
Biergarten (I'm not a fan of German food)

Other than that, I was thinking the following, but am really, REALLY undecided (I'm a Libra, does that surprise you?):
Rose & Crown
Nine Dragons
Teppan Edo/Tokyo Dining (WHAT is the difference? Please someone elaborate.)
Big River Grille and Brewing Works (is this even ON the DDP?)
Yachtsman Steakhouse

Please help me decide what to eat three months from now!

Yachtsman is 2 credits :goodvibes

If you like Mexican, keep the San Angel Inn and try it for yourself (we enjoy it!)

But if I had to choose for you, I pick Teppan Edo. It is a never miss for us! (teppan edo is where they cook in front of you a la Benihana...)

Did you know that the Yachtsmans is 2TS credits? If you are aware of that I would definately choose that one from your list.

If I had to pick something else I would say Coral Reef. We had a lovely meal there or Rose and Crown which we also enjoyed but Coral Reef was better.:thumbsup2

How would you rate the food? I've just never heard anything good.

We have a pretty authentic Mexican restaurant near us, so I'm used to pretty decent quality and know what to expect from "real" Mexican food. As opposed to the "Taco Bell"-type set.

I didn't know Yachtsman was to credits. :worried: That's out.

Thanks for the info thus far. I knew ONE of the Japanese restaurants was a Benihana-style. Is Tokyo Dining just your "normal" type of TS then?

I personally love the San Angel Inn for the ambiance *and* the food. I ask for the vegetarian combination plate (not on the normal menu) and thoroughly enjoy it.

That being said, I really like Teppen Edo too.

Ooo whats on that veggie plate please? I have always avoided it because of the lack of vegetarian food on offer. I would like to try it as it looks so beautiful.:lovestruc

We definitely prefer lunch to dinner on this one (ditto for the Sci Fi). Check out the menu here on the dining page and figure out what you would actually order and see if it is worth it to you. I would try it if it intrigues you and not rule it out simply because the DIS doesn't like it (every single restaurant at WDW has its fair share of lovers and haters).

Hopefully I'll do this link right, but this thread on the dining reviews board has a picture of the vegetarian menu: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1607071

When your server comes to the table, just ask for the vegetarian menu and they'll bring you a menu that looks just like in the picture of the above linked thread

Exit out the International Gateway and take a boat to the Boardwalk. Eat at Spoodles. Spoodles is one of our favorite places in all of Disney.

There is also a rotating character family style meal in the Land Pavilion. We have never tried it but I have heard it is pretty good.

I've looked at the menu and there are a couple of things that sound good to me and I'm sure Missy could find something as well. As I (think) I mentioned earlier, I'm not really expecting Tex-Mex, but real Mexican, so it wouldn't be a surprise to me in terms of what I was getting.

::sigh:: Maybe I should just take the chance and keep the ADR.

it's not indian food... it's moroccan food :)

Missy (the person on the trip with me) generalized and then I did the same. Not good of me. Really what I should've said is she looked at it (and smelled it on her last trip :rotfl: ) and shot it down.

I was told Spoodles was two credits and we only have one to spare. I will say that their menu looked pretty good.

I thought about this but we really don't want to do character dining this trip.

I vote for Teppan Edo!

I'm thinking that if we do end up changing the ADR that we may end up here.

I would go with Tutto, it was really very good

Garden Grill is the rotating restaurant in the Land. We ate there once, and thought it was OK - lots of people love it though. Another option is the restaurant in France - we didn't eat there, but if you look past the names of the dishes and just read the decriptions, the food sounds good and not sooo over the top French, kwim? And we walked by the restaurant and peeked in the windows and it looked good too. Sadly we didn't make it there during our trip, but we plan to try it next time.

But honestly, I would just keep San Angel and stop worrying about the reviews. If you listened to everything that everyone said, you'd go crazy. Or you'd be wearing croc's, carrying a baggalini, pushing a Mac stroller, and eating all of your meals at LeCellier and Kona Cafe. :rotfl:

If the menu looks good to you, you generally like Mexican food, you thing it would be cool to eat in the Pyramid, you can enjoy a margarita with your meal, I wouldn't cancel it because some random stranger on the internet didn't like his burrito 6 months ago!

Honestly, we chose 50's Primetime last year for the experience despite the negative reviews about the food. And I have to say, we both really enjoyed the food too.

So, I think you should go with San Angel for your own reasons and as someone else said, don't not go because of the reviews here. Not everyone likes everything and there have to be people who do like it or they would have revamped it by now.

Spoodles is only one credit and also one of our favorite restaurants. I haven't eaten at the new Teppen Edo but we did enjoy the old restaurant that was the same style.

That said, I would keep San Angel and give it a try. We ate there several years ago and I admit, it wasn't our favorite meal that trip BUT it was terrible. And the atmosphere is really terrific. We are trying it again this trip.

I think y'all are right. I'm going to keep it and give it a shot. Thank you all so much!

I have Croc flip flops (but will not EVER wear the 'regular' Crocs!).
I hav and ADR for Le Cellier. And Kona.

LOL

Ah Crocs! They get such a bad rap since everyone just pictures the Beach or Cayman version when you even mention the word Crocs. They just assume ugly, but I don't now how I would have survived with my foot issues the last 2 years if it hadn't been for the comfort of my Crocs.

I have about 20 pairs of all different styles, including the ballet flats, canvas boat shoe type and even heels, all of which look nothing like the Beach and/or Cayman models - although I do have those too.
