I just booked my first trip in three years and I know some things have changed since then. We are staying at OKW with rented points. When are we allowed to make our ADRs? How does the new online system work? Our stay begins on 7/29, am I already within my booking window? Any other tips or advice?

You are definately in your ADR booking window. You can make ADRs 180 days prior to arrival (+ the next 10 days if staying on property). So, with that said, I would definately make those ADRs...ASAP!

Do y'all recommend online or phone reservations? How does the new online system work? Is it on the main Disney site?

Pick the restaurant you are interested in and click "book a reservation." Then you can enter dates and search for times. The system will return different times if the one you asked for is not available.

I find this far easier than dealing with calling Disney Dining, although there may still be some glitches in the system from time to time.

The booking window for July has been open since January, so it's possible very popular restaurants (Le Cellier, 'Ohana dinner) may be booked already.

Found it, thanks! I checked just to see and O'hana is still available! May be helpful that there are just the two of us. I'm going to sit down with my son tonight and plan out some meals.

Made a few last night, and no problems. I was actually able to get O'hana and Garden Grill for dinner, and Crystal Palace for breakfast. We couldn't decide what else we wanted. Since we are probably not going to do DDP, still debating it, I may opt for a couple of lunches some days. Do you think we need ADRs for lunch at Tony's and Chef's de France? Does Remy still make appearences at CdF? Also do you think we would need an ADR for a dinner at The Plaza? I'm kind of thinking it might be nice to not be tied down to ADRs some nights, especially since it's just the two of us.

Chefs de France yes. Remy comes around 4 times in the afternoon, except on Sundays. The actual times are available at www.wdwent.com, click on Epcot and scroll down.
Plaza, is not a really popular restaurant but I think you need a reservation. There are only five TS restaurants in MK and you are going at a busy time.
