We are planning a trip for our daughter's first Disney/4th brithday trip in April/May of 2009. I plan on making my ADR's well in advance. Both sets of grandparents are coming with us, however there is a slight chance that my inlaws may not be able to come. My question is, if I book ADR's for 7 people at the 180 day mark, and then later find out that they won't make it, what do I do? Do we just show with a smaller party, or do I have to inform Disney? Also, I'm trying to do the BBB/CRT thing. I understand that I have to prepay for CRT. Can I simply cancel the two of them from the ADR and get a refund for those and still retain the other 5?:confused3 HELP!!!!!

As I understand it, if you have a larger party ADR and not all members show up, you may not be seated until they do. If it is a ressie for CRT, or someplace that you had to hold with a credit card, then you will be charged if they don't show up, and you still may not get your table. You aren't pre-paying for CRT, you are holding your reservation with your credit card. Nothing should be charged unless you are a no-show. So if you have booked 7 ressie for CRT and only 5 show up, I believe you'll be charged a fee for the no-shows. If they can't or won't seat five because your entire party didn't show together (and sometimes the restaurants are crazy like that, especially the high in demand CRT), I wonder if they could charge you could for 7 no shows? You'll also have to put a cc hold for BBB, too, just so you know. The cancellation policy is 48 hours for both CRT and BBB.

A friend of mine is going through a similar situation right now, worried that in her party of 10, some members may not show up for ressies, on time or not at all. I guess it's just a chance you have to take. If your in-laws decide well in advance to not go, then you can cancel your ressies, but you'll have to hope you can get in to the same restaurants you wanted for the time you wanted. No guarantees.

Hope this helps. In-laws!

This has a lot to do with table size. For example... if you book a party of 7... and you go down to a party of 5 your chances are better because you still require a larger table... HOWEVER... if you were to go from 7 to 4 or less, you may have a problem if the tables arent available. My suggestions?? and this may not sound fair to others but I have two:

1. Book two ADR's and cancel the one when you find out for sure. Some people dont like this because it does hold a table, which I understand.

2. Book it with your guaranteed number and tell the people who arent sure that you may or may not be able to add them at a later date.

OR of course you can take your chance. LIke I said, going from 7 to 5 I think your chances are better, but less than that... you will have problems.

Thanks for the replies! Obviously it's quite frustrating when your whole party isn't completely on board. My parents are along no matter what we do, I simply need to tell them when our flight leaves and all is set. The inlaws are a different story. They just don't understand why you can't plan a week long trip to Disneyworld 1 month before:headache: They've never been, so they can't quite grasp the whole thing. I simply want to make this as magical for our daughter as I can. Thanks for letting me vent!!!:grouphug:

That's not true. I made ADR's in March for CRT for September and it has already shown up on my credit card. ;)

Always make your reservations for the maximum number of people you think are going to be there. And then change downward as soon as you know for sure.

Quite honestly, since the in-laws aren't really on board with this and you have to prepay for Cinderella's, I'd make them pay any cancellation fee that you might incur.

I do know about people not understanding about making reservations so early. We went with my in-laws (who are saints) and I had a meal a day reserved. They complained about that so I canceled the rest of them after the second day. On the third day, my father-in-law says "now, where are we having lunch today?" When I said nowhere because they complained so much, they were upset. They said it was working beautifully so why did I cancel the rest of the meals? Sometimes people just have to experience it before they understand it.
