We have 14 people in our party (4 different families). I am a little worried over one family of three not showing up for the ADR. It was hard enough to get the reservations for 14, just wondering if anyone has had experience if not all the party show up. It would mean 11 people instead of the 14, and when I booked the meals was told that we would not be at the same tables but would try to seat us close.

The other scenario would be calling that morning to change the number in the party from 14 to 11, is it possible that I would loose my ADR. I did call Disney Dining and was given a couple of different answers. Just thought I would ask here if anyone experienced.

Also we have spoken to the one family about the importance of showing up.

Thanks!!!

We traveled with a party of 16 last June. We ate dinner each night as a party of 16, and while at Askershus we were sat at one long table, all of the other restaurants had us sitting split up at different tables but close to one another. EVERY restaurant required that ALL 16 of us were there until they sat us. On one occasion we had 3 people still waiting in line for Space Mountain...we could not sit down at Liberty Tree Tavern until we were all present. We were so mad at our party of 3 for holding us up! We were starved, and they were 25 minutes late! ahhh the joys of traveling in a large group! ;)

You will be fine. As long as you are subtracting people and not adding, not a problem.

You are correct in that you were all going to be a separate tables anyway, so they will probably either keep the seating the same and you'll just have three empty spaces, or they may be able to reconfigure the seating depending on what they had set up.

Having an ADR changed to a different number isn't easy. What they do is cancel one and try to make a new one. It hardly ever works.

Your best bet is to tell the family in question that you are all to meet 10 minutes before your ADR time. If they are not there, you will assume they're not coming and check in without them. (This will leave them out of luck but they'll figure that out for themselves pretty quickly!)

You should be able to check in and say, "We'll only be 11 instead of 14" with no problem. It's a much safer bet than trying to rebook.

Don't worry if 3 people decided to changed their minds...last year we traveled with friends and 2 meals they changed their minds so when we checked in we explained to them the other party that is traveling with us went back to the resort to rest and they were understandin so we said minus 3 people for our dinning...we were still seated at the time of our ADR. They know you are on vacation and things do happen especailly if you have kids. I have cancelled w/i half an hour of our ADR b/c my son was still napping or I know he would not be able to sit at a TS at that time so we would have room service instead. Hope this helps and don't stress too much your going to Disney.

I have a similar ? Have ressie at Akershus for 4 on 8/25, but now only need
2. I've been trying to get 2 for brft, but no luck so far. Since they have CC guarentee, says they will charge $10/person for "no-shows" - don't know if this would apply to missing 2. I could call at 48hr mark and explain, but wasn't sure if this would be a problem, as table size is different, and they seem to have less for 2 according to the pics.(have never been). Any ideas or experience w/ this? Any info would be appreciated!

I had half of my group of 12 cancel their trip due to finances, when I canceled their hotel ressies I also tried to change the number on hour ADR the CM tried to rebook I told him I had to talk to my husband and hung up. I later called Disney Dinning and they just changed the number on the ADRs with out a problem. I guess it just depends who you talk to.

Thanks!!

I figured that it would be easier to check in minus the three people than to cancel all my ADR and tell them to book their own.

We are having a get together at my house as one of the families traveling with us only know us and not the others. My sister in law did stress to the family I am worried about the importance of going to the ADR (and on time), however I will definitely make sure they get the point, of not only showing up but being there at least 15 minutes early.

It is a little trickier with a large group, and I am one to worry that others are not having a good time, but to heck with it...I am responsible for my fun, they are for theirs.
