ADR Newbie...Please help

Our trip that we have planned in May will be the first time traveling with a large group. I know that we need to make reservations now to eat but here are the questions I have:

1. Do you have to make ADR's for all table service venues?
2. When can/do you make the ADR's?
3. Is there a charge to make ADR's?
4. What is the cancellation policy?
5. Do you need to make ADR's for lunch as well?

I'm normally not an "ultra-planner" but I want to make sure the family get to see the Spirit of Aloha show and the Hoop de doo Revue.

1. Do you have to make ADR's for all table service venues?
No, but it is a good idea to have an ADR. An ADR is not a guaranteed table; it means you are on a list to get the next available table that accommodates your party. Some restaurants, like Chef Mickeys, Le Cellier, 50's Prime Time Cafe may turn away people without ADRs because of the popularity of the restaurant.

2. When can/do you make the ADR's?
90 days before your arrival date you can make up to 10 days of ADRs. If you arrive on 12/01, then 90 days prior you can make ADRs for 12/01 - 12/10.

3. Is there a charge to make ADR's?
Not for every restaurant. A few, like Cindy's Breakfast, require a credit card deposit. Most, however, do not require any deposit and ADRs are free to make or change.

4. What is the cancellation policy?
For restaurants that do not require a deposit, you can cancel the day of the ADR with no penalty. I am not sure about the cancel policy for those that require a deposit.

5. Do you need to make ADR's for lunch as well?
Again, it's not required, but it is a good idea if you want to eat at a table service restaurant. ADRs are not needed for counter service places. Our family usually does table service for dinner and counter service for lunch.
