Hi all,

I'm planning my family's first disney trip on kind of short notice and could use some help with ADRs. We have the DDP, 4/7 deal and so far I have 6 TS scheduled, but I'm already planning on changing some. Here's what I have so far:

Day 1 - no ADR
Day 2 - Chef Mickey breakfast, then MK
Day 3 - AK, dinner at Boma
Day 4 - no parks planned, resort stuff and WCC for dinner
Day 5 - HS, dinner at 50's prime time planned, but want to change to T-rex
Day 6 - Epcot, dinner at Teppan Edo planned, but want to change to Coral Reef (also DH's birthday)
Day 7 - kid's choice day, have dinner scheduled at 1900 park fare, might change

How am I doing? My sons are 6 and 4, I want to get to all the parks but I also want to allow down-time to avoid meltdowns. they don't know about the trip yet, it's a christmas present. I have no idea how they will react to character meals, which is why I'm re-thinking 1900 park fare (plus I'm not sure if the boys will get excited about cinderella, etc). I'm excited about CM and Boma, want to try WCC since we are staying at WL, then I start to get very indecisive!

I would like somewhere nice for our last night, and convenient to get to since I'm letting the kid's pick where we spend our last day. since I think they will probably pick MK, I'm thinking somewhere on the monorail would be best (that's why I picked park fare in the first place).

thanks for your help!

When are you going? If it is soon, you better start making ADR's now. If you think your kids will pick MK on the last day, why not try to get a late lunch/early dinner at Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends? Out of the restaurants you list, we've done Chef Mickey's, 50's Prime Time, Whispering Canyon Cafe and Coral Reef. We always enjoy Chef Mickey's enjoyed 50's Prime Time and Coral Reef (but it's been years since we've been to either). Unfortunately,w e were at WCC in September and found it very overrated as far as the food (Dh actually got sick from one of the meats in the skillet) and we saw none of the antics everyone talks about. We are trying Boma for breakfast next year. I've read mixed reviews for 1900 Park Fair for dinner.

For your last night, since you say you want something nice and also convenient, why not book Artist Point? It is right there in the Wilderness Lodge and the food is excellent. I have taken my niece and nephew there when they were your children's ages, and they did fine. I actually think that Artist Point has one of the best children's menus of all the restaurants--grilled chicken, a small steak, good mac and cheese made with Tilamook cheddar, fresh vegetables, etc.

If you are on the dining plan, this is a 2TS restaurant, just FYI.

Edited to say that if you are planning to go back into the park after dinner, then a monorail restaurant would be more convenient.

Take a look at the Grand Floridian Cafe. It gets really good reviews for food, service and QUIET seems to show up quite a bit in those reveiws as well. Not so quiet that a 6 or 4yo would be out of place, just not as bustling as a Chef Mickey's. I think you will have earned a little quiet and the right to be served (no buffet) by the end of your trip.

If you are thinking about going to Magic Kingdom on your last day, you might want to consider Liberty Tree Tavern. When we went it was a character meal. The kids enjoyed the interaction ( just small interactions at your own table - it is low key compared to other character meals.) At that time the characters were: Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and the Chipmunks. All of us liked the food. (Meat, potatoes, and I think mac and cheese).

It appears that Liberty Tree Tavern is ending the character meal there. I just saw this in another thread written by xanman, "Um, yah, I'm afraid so
Beginning January 5, 2009, the Magic Kingdom's Liberty Tree Tavern will no longer offer character dining. The last character dinner at the Tavern will be on January 4, 2009."

I have also heard good things about OHana's at the Poly.

Artist Point is a great idea, I wasn't even thinking about any 2 TS places! that way it doesn't matter where we end up that day and I'll probably have the credits anyway. I'm going to try to get in to T-rex instead of 50's prime time and it doesn't look like they will be on the DDP. I think it will be worth it to pay oop, my youngest is a dinosaur nut! I'm going to call tonight, I like the idea of a nice dinner at the resort for our last night. thanks so much for all your help!
