We were very excited when we heard that the Wishes Dessert Party had been extended through the holiday season so that we would get to enjoy one on our upcoming trip. When we made our ADR's that was on our list of must do's and when booking we were able to get a spot for our group on 12/1 at 8:45. Being just a little over a week out from our trip now I was going through and doing some checks of park hours and planning some final details when I noticed that the Magic Kingdom was set to close at 7:00 the night of our Dessert Party. I checked further and sure enough there is a MVMCP set for that night, which we weren't planning on buying tickets for. Mind you when we booked it for that night, we were never told there was a hard ticket event that evening that a ticket would have to be purchased seperately for. Now, of course it's too close so every other night that isn't a MVMCP is sold out. I've talked to Disney Dining twice now and explained to them the situation hoping that something could be done to work us in to any other night or even comping tickets to MVMCP as the mix up is the fault of their booking. Both times I've been told there is nothing that they can do as the other nights are full and they don't comp any tickets. I hate it because everyone in our group was so looking forward to the Dessert Party and it's a shame we will miss it. Anyone have any advice on anything else that could be done?:sad2:

Wow, that is a big mistake on the part of the ADR group. Just like they tell you you need admission into a park to go to certain restaurants, they should have told you this. I have a feeling it was lack of coordination between departments.

I would call again and insist on talking to a manager, because they really should either comp you MVMCP tickets or at least get you into another sold out night for the dessert party.

I agree with the PP. They should comp you MVMCP tickets for that night or find another night for you to go. I have always been told on nights where hard-ticket events are taking place that I need to have them in order to get into the parks to eat, etc.

If they won't comp you tickets (they've already said "no" so the odds on your getting tickets aren't great), you'll need to cancel the dessert party and try to book it another night (I know they said they were full but there could be cancellations).

Alternatively, plan an evening at a monorail resort (like the Polynesian) that has a view of the fireworks.

I believe seating is actually assigned at the Dessert Party, isn't it? It's not like a restaurant where people are coming and going, it's more like a theater show where everyone has a ticket for one seat for that exact time. if there aren't seats left over, then they couldn't give them to you even if they wanted to.

I do think they should comp you the MVMCP tickets, though.

Sorry you have a sanfu

I say take the $75 you are saving by not doing the dessert party, go to B&C have the kitchen sink, ghiardellis for ice cream sundaes and/or chocolate, France for pastries, Goofy's for candy and you will still have change left over :thumbsup2

I totally agree. When we made our ADRs, the CM member told me for every single restaurant inside a park that park admission was required. I would call again and ask for a manager. I understand that mistakes happen but it was made by a CM and Disney needs to do something to correct it.

having been to the dessert party, you will not be missing out on much. It was okay but I will never feel the need to do it again. My DD agrees.

Thanks so much for the ideas and input everyone. DW and I have discussed it and think that we will go ahead and cancel and use the money we would have spent on the Dessert Party to give Boma a try. We have always wanted to try it and this frees up almost the same amount of money. Thanks again!:thumbsup2

I have to agree with pyrxtc. We went in July and less there are chairs and tables to eat the nice desserts people started going to the railing with aleast 1/2 hr before the fireworks. So in order not to be behind a group you stood up for 1/2 hr. I personally like the view of the fireworks going off behind the castle rather than off to the side. The desserts were good though we all felt a little sick afterward from I guess mixing the different flavors.

We just got back from the Dessert Party and were completely underwhelmed with it! The desserts were just so-so and the kids were not impressed. The only benefit is not having to wait in your Wishes spot for hours on end. I definitely wouldn't do it again either though, especially for those prices. The Sea World Dessert buffet we did a few years ago was SO much better.
Best of luck with whatever happens.

Cancel the Dessert Party, go over to Poly and sit on the patio by the bar and have a few Long Island Ice teas or whatever form the bar. You can see Wishes from there and also watch the Water Parade (forget what the parade is called). We did that about 2 weeks ago after eating at O'Hanna. The water parade and drinks were well worth it.

Can you order food at the Bar there, just wondering as we're planning a trip in mid Dec and that sounds like a nice idea but can't get ressies anywhere near there or MK for that matter. Thanks. :santa:
