I've checking for a lunch reservation for our trip, currently have dinner, but lunch timing would be better...Today I can make a ressie for 4 people , but not 5(I accidently left my middle child out when I searched for a time--Poor kid:hug:). Do you all think I could take the 4 time slot(there were 3 to choose from) and add one when we get there or should I just keep checking?

No flames please:firefight. Just trying to tweak our dining plans!

I don't know about adding, but my sister had to cancel at the last minute in Dec., so all my 4 resv. went to 3. I just told them when I checked in that 1 member of my party was unable to come. I was not going to try and redo my resv. 1 week before the trip.

4 people would sit at a 4 top table and 5 people would sit at a 6 top table. Going down in party size is easy; going up in size, not so much. They may or may not seat you if you show up with one more person than on your reservation. It happened to us once, at WCC for a dinner. Our extra person, a last minute add on, could not dine with us.

I know this will tick some people off, but Kevin, John and Pete of the DIS podcast suggest going up one person if you run into this situation. See if there is availability for a table of 6 (you will be using the same table for 5) and if available make the reservation. Once you arrive, let them know you will only be a party of 5 instead of 6. Good luck!

I tried that too, but there were no openings...maybe I'll make the 4 person ADR and if they can add the 5th on arrival, I'll cancel dinner....Is that allowable?:confused3

They have made it clear in the last year or so that this is not allowed. You most likely will be refused if you show up with an extra person. This in part is due to fire regulations. I have personally witnessed people being refused a table for more than they booked but also there have been many threads on the same topic.
