ADR Can I do this?

This originally planned to be a mother and my teen daughter trip but now my dd wants to bring her best friend along and I already have ADR for the 2 of us at Ohanas and a few others at times we want.

Now when I was checking ADRS for 3 of us, there are no ressies available.

My question is can I ask at checkin at restaurant, if we can add a chair?

Has anyone ever done this?

I dont want to lose my ADR but I also need to have her friend in our party which was originally set up for 2.

What should I do?

I would call Disney Dining and see if they can amend your existing ADR to 3 people (last year, I called and was able to change a 4 to a 5). If they can't do it, then I would just show up with 3 and see what they can do.

I just asked a very similar question. My ADRs are for 10 people but now they will be 11 of us. Hoping to find a solution.

The best solution would to be to keep checking, and find a new reservation that will allow your new party size. Otherwise all disney dining and see if they can add a person to your current adr.

If you cannot do either, then show up early for your adr and throw yourselves on the mercy of the CMs there. Be prepared however to hear that they cannot accomodate your extra guest. There is really no guarantee that you can add someone then and there. It is not a matter of just adding a chair, as disney restaurants are packed pretty tightly to begin with.

All you can do is try. Unless you can get your adr changed to your new party size, there is no guarantee of everyone being seated.

Since your extra person is a child...or teen I am assuming, I would prepare to lose your adr because when you show up the chances of getting the extra person in is slim. VERY slim.

Reason I say lose your adr is because they just won't allow the extra person in and what are you going to do with the child who can't come in???

Normally I recommend that if you are going to try and add a person at check in, have that person a back up plan for the meal. Like a CS or another TS option. But since she isn't an adult you can't send her off on her own.

As for adding her, it isn't as simple as just pulling up a chair. If the place is booked to capacity they won't allow it, as fire codes prevent them from doing so. And WDW is strict on this policy.

Now is there a chance...yes but as I said a small one. So you need to have a back up plan in place on what you will do if she isn't allowed in.

I would keep trying to add her to the ressie. Sometimes the closer to the vacation the more things open up as people have to cancel for various reasons.

on the contrary, i've walked up to many restaurants and got a table (beginning of June). I had no problems. I've seen people walk up too with no problems. Ive also seen people add someone in at the last minute and they've had no problems. Honestly, if you cant change your ressie then i would leave it as is and just show up at the restaurant with 3 ppl. Im pretty sure they will accomodate you. I really dont think you'll have a problem. In the meantime, keep checking for ADR's! Good luck!

Very good question.

If they can accommodate the person they will. If there is no availability they will not. Early June is not an especially busy time as people are still in school and parents don't want to pull their kids out at that time.

If they were accommodating entire parties then they were not busy. Ohana's is notorious for being a busy place.

You can try. But there is the possibility that you will not be admitted with the extra person (if the restaurant is already at capacity for fire codes at the time you check in). And no, it is not "on the contrary." It's rare, but extra guests HAVE been turned away from full restaurants. There's no absolute solution other than booking a reservation for the larger party.

Every trip we go to Ohana and have NEVER seen anyone get in that isn't on the reservation or that doesn't have a reservation.
Once we heard the hostess tell the party (didn't have an adr) that it would be a 2-3 hour wait. And they had to wait there. Crazy!!

Even though we have been 3 times, we always arrive an hour early and sit by the bar and have a drink/relax. So I have heard hundreds (literally) turned away. Ohana isn't "every or many other" restaurants. It is the hottest ticket in WDW right now.

Again, good luck. Don't want you to not try, but really trying to be realistic. Having teens with you, you can't just send 1 off on her own.

I would keep trying however I have NEVER been turned down when we have showed up with more people...never a problem. The hostesses are used to dealing with this. As it is many times the table I am sat at has extra spots anyway.

We have been able to add people to our Ohana reservation 3 seperate times. We already had an ADR (as this person does) and we simply told the CM that we needed to go from 4 adults to 5. They didn't think twice and told us no problem at all. I say go for it! Worse than can happen is they say no... but if you can't change it anyway you already won't get to eat there so what's the diffrence?

From June 11-21 is Disney.

If you call and they cannot change the reservation, I would check on line everyday between now and June 11 because people change their plans all the time and things do become available. I would check for 3 or 4 people because in most cases you'll be seated at a 4 top table. If you really want 'Ohana it is worth the effort. Good luck.

Agree! We've seen lots of people turned away at Ohana that tried to check in with a bigger party than their ADR.

As a solo traveler and also as a couple we are frequently seated at tables for bigger parties, but at the same time have seen folks turned away. We've seen people who have tried to add extra people turned away at 'Ohana, Le Cellier, and Crystal Palace several times. Saying that, I too have been successful adding a person at check in. It just depends on how full the restuarant is that night and how close they are to the fire codes limit. If I was the OP, I'd try but would have back up plans just in case.
