ADR at Cape May

So...I've read the "parking" thread not all the way through when I suddenly thought of our vacation plans.

We're staying at BLT and have an ADR for Cape May, never been there before and wanted to try something new. We were going to drive over (yes for the first time making the drive from Jersey :scared1:) to Cape May. But now I'm not so sure about parking...is it really crowded where you have to circle like in the lots for DTD?

One more question. Could we use the entrance from Epcot to get to our ADR or is that just for guests staying at Boardwalk?

Thanks :)

Parking is typically not that difficult at the resorts. You can use Epcot to get to your DR, but will cost you a park admission. Anybody can enter/exit International Gateway, not just people staying at the Epcot resorts. .

We valeted our car at Beach Club one night before dinner at Cape May. After dinner, we strolled over to Epcot for Illuminations and instead of exiting at the front of the park with the masses, we simply strolled back to BC and retrieved our car with no problems. Sometimes the $12 is just worth it. :thumbsup2

I usually valet so that's not a problem. But I've stopped at hotels and self-parked. I've never had the problem of not finding a spot. I don't always find the best spot, but I've never had to circle like a vulture.

I don't know if I always have good luck or if those people losing their minds on the parking threads have bad luck, but I do know that self-parking is not always an issue.

If you park in the Epcot lot, plan on 30-45 minutes to get to the Beach Club. No way I'd do it that way, but it is possible, even if it is the most ridiculous way to do it. You would, of course, have to enter and walk through the park.

It is really too much walking!! My DS would have a meltdown from all that walking in the August heat...just curious about it.

That's the price you pay when you go in August...been there, done that, several times, and won't be doing it again any time soon.

What time is your ADR??? Here's the thing...parking at a resort for an ADR is fine. But it isn't fine to leave your car there and then head to a park. I realize that lots don't fill up, but how would you feel if when you got back to BLT all the 'good' spots were taken by those headed over to MK for the day??? It happens...I've watched it from my BLT balcony.

You can park at Epcot and walk through. I imagine that you're going to visit both FutureWorld as well as World Showcase. So, you'll be walking the length of the park in any case.
Or, just pay to valet park at BC. You are free to use the 'back door' to Epcot entrance...anyone can use it.

I'm sorry if I sound harsh, but everyone seems to think they have a good reason to 'bend the rules'. I normally stay at BWV...and I have driven back to the parking lot in the evening, before heading to dinner, only to find the parking lot has no close spaces. Odd. But, then, if you head to the parking lot about 20 mins after IllumiNations finishes??? A ton of cars are leaving the parking lot. Yep, those who want to avoid the parking fees, or just want an easier exit, have parked there and taken up the best spots.
So, do what you want. Up to you.

It is perfectly okay to use resort parking when you're dining at that resort. If you plan to visit Epcot after your meal however, you should then drive to Epcot and park there. I'm not saying you would stay parked at the resort all day, but it's really unfair to the resort guests for people to use the resort lots as parking when they're not at the resort.

Another option would be to go to the Studios, and take the boat to the Beach Club from there. The boat dock is at the main entrance to the Studios, so that requires little walking.

If you have park hoppers and plan to go elsewhere besides Epcot that day, you could take the monorail to Epcot and walk through Epcot and leave your car in the parking lot at BLT.

Wow that's a lotta rant built up, ya need a Disney fix, sheesh :confused3

All I wanted to know was if the lot is crowded so I can figure out if I need to head out extra early for the circling game.
They give guests staying on properity a paper parking pass with your full name and dates anyway so you can go to the different parks with out parking fees so I'm not cheating Disney or anyone else for that matter. I have park hoppers.
Thank you to everyone who answered my question.

Well, you said you read the parking lot thread already. There are a lot of people on the DIS who feel guests are not entitled to park at resort parking unless they are visiting, dining, shopping or staying at the resort. Not to go to the theme parks. And you will see signs at the resorts that are walking distance to the theme parks that they cannot provide theme park parking.

You could also take the bus to DHS and then the boat (for a nice relaxing ride) to the BC.

The parking pass for YOUR resort does not allow you to park as long as you want at ANOTHER resort. You can park at the Parks without fees, but it does not allow you to park for long periods of times at the RESORTS. You are cheating every resort guest who can not park because you think you are entitled.

WHO said anything about being entitled...all I wanted to know if it was going to be crowded.

Thanks again.... :rotfl2:

FWIW, they usually don't let the resort parking lots get full to the point of capacity. Allot ten minutes to get from parking lot to Cape May, however, because the parking lot is a bit away from the main entrance of the resort.

I noticed that you didn't mention a word about going into Epcot to spend the day, but you merely wished to know if you could walk through Epcot to the BC.

Should you opt to go to the park, if you valet park you're welcome to leave your car at BC and enjoy Epcot (or any other park for that matter!). Other than that, it's ultimately up to Disney.

Enjoy BLT, I'm totally jealous! :thumbsup2

Ok, let me clairify.
I have park hoppers, I have a car. My ADR is in Cape May and was just going to drive there to EAT ONLY. I asked about the gateway because I really didn't know where it is or how far it is to and from...Obviously never used it before so I was inquiring about it.

AS for this whole entitlement parking fiasco... I do not wish to stay at Cape May then go to Epcot. I'm not one who thinks that since I paid I get to do whatever I want.....I'LL LEAVE THAT UP TO THE TOUR GROUPS....they get away with murder :rotfl:

Again thanks to all who have answered.

It depends. If there is a convention at YC, it may be tougher to find a spot. We had a little bit of a hrd time finding a spot on the day we arrived last year. There was a large convention, and then everything cleared the next day. If there isn't a convention, you will likely not have a problem finding a spot. Earlier in the am, it may be tougher to find a spot, as folks have not yet left the lot.

One more question. Could we use the entrance from Epcot to get to our ADR or is that just for guests staying at Boardwalk?

Of course. The international gateway entrance is open for everyone. You can also enter/exit to park hop between EP and DHS.
