Adoption Updates

Nothing new here. Still waiting for a travel date and still going completely insane during the wait!!

Just wanted to check in to see if anyone had any news on anything...

Nothing here, obviously...lol...it's gonna be awhile...

We have our last homestudy visit tomorrow-- the house visit. Then we'll start plowing through the paperwork and required courses we have to take.

Hope to have the dossier on it's way by October.

Hey...families who are having to renew their I-600A's...did you hear the news?? If I understand it correctly, you will get one free renewal of your I-600A!! Here's the link to the pdf that I saw... I-600A Renewal Info Woo hoo!!! Since the cost on that is going up, that saves us some money! It's inevitable that we will have to renew ours at least once, if not twice, with our wait lengthening as each day progresses! :dance3:[/QUOTE]

Yep got the news 2 months after we paid $570 to renew. We are LID Nov. 9, 2005 and it really is starting to feel like they are just out to &^$%&$ us! Sorry I am so down but now the current "RUMOR" is that cutoff is Nov. 7, 2005 and after 19 months of waiting and 2 171's that are paid for it is just rediculous. Trying not to be bitter but China is making it VERY HARD! 3 months ago we wanted to switch to SN and were told that we were too close to refferal? OK NOW IT MAY BE 4 MONTHS AFTER THAT THAT WE GET A REFFERAL! And 6 months from then that we can travel! It is like a big joke.
There is just no end in sight.

monami7: I am soooo sorry that you aren't going to make this month's cutoff! It has to be soooo frustrating to be so close yet still so far!

We are lucky that I think we will make the cutoff for our one free I-171H before our current one expires in mid august.......we are LID 4/3/06 for China and feel like it will be forever and a day before we meet our new daughter!

Stay strong! There is an end in sight to your journey!

I am not giving up completely on this month. Romors are just that right. Until it is official I am holding out and praying. The last 4 months have been the worst. The 2 day batch the 6 day batch and the 7 day batch and now there is talk of either a 2 or 6 day batch again. Give us a break already. We have been so close for half a year!

I'm really sad today. They announced the June travel group yesterday and I am not in it (really thought I would be). I cannot imagine waiting another month to go get my little boy or him having to spend another month in the orphanage.

tink&squirtsmom: sorry to hear you aren't in the June travel group......I can only imagine how much harder the wait is, once your have your child's picture.....hope you are in the July travel group

Sorry your not in this travel group. I know how hard it is when you think it is your turn. Do they ever do a travel group closer than a month away?

I know everyone here will celebrate with me. My friend and colleague got the call today at work that her little princess is waiting for her in China! Her daughter is only 6 months old and they will get her picture tomorrow when they meet with their adoption specialist. We are all so happy for them- it has been a long wait and they are so ready for their little one to come home!

I'm very happy for them. We missed getting our refferal by 2 days. They only did 5 days of refferals. 6 but one was a sunday and there are no LID's on sundays so really 5 days! We have thought all month that this was our month. I am a bit upset right now but we are surely next so I guess knowing that it is only another month should make me happy. I just need to regroup. I kind of feel like someone punched me.

:grouphug:
You're right. At least you know that you'll be on next month's roster. There IS a bright side. I'm sure that the perfect little girl will be presented to you next month and you'll soon forget all the time and patience that you've had to expend getting there.

How wonderful for your friend! I'm sure they won't sleep tonight in anticipation of tomorrow's picture!

I'm sorry they didn't get to your date! My friend was in the same situation last month- she thought they had a good chance to get their referral and it didn't happen then. Just try to stay positive and know that you really are next! :goodvibes

I'm so sorry! I remember that feeling well.

Oh monami7...I am soooooo sorry! I know that it's tough when you feel like you've been sucker-punched. I'm sure i'll feel it myself when our date draws nearer...hang in there!! Just think, next month you'll get to see your daughter's face for the first time!!!

tink&squirtsmom...here's hoping you're in the next group!

I just told my DH...we've been waiting almost two months now! If we were lucky enough (LOL) to only have to wait 18 months for our referral, (LOL) we would only have 16 months to go!
Ok...seriously people...pick yourselves up off the floor and quit laughing...I so need to remove my rose colored glasses...lol

We will be at 20 months next month when we get it and seeing as the CCAA has only reffered 14 days in the past 3 months I think it may be a few years for you guys...sorry. At least you guys knew getting into it though. We were told 6 to 8 months tops. At the time it really was that too. We never expected that it would be 2 years from LID until we met Rory. But we never would have thought we would have Lilly then either.

Woohoo!! We are travelling!! I actually went ahead and booked tickets late last week (figuring I could change them to stay later if needed), but just today got our official travel dates. Apparently I am an excellent guesser because the tickets I booked are perfect!! :cool1: :cool1: I am sooooo excited!

We leave this Thursday and fly into Rome, where we will meet up with my family (4 generations are over there on vacation) and spend a week in Tuscany. From there we will fly onto Addis Ababa and get to meet our son on June 24!!! I struggled with whether to include Italy too, but that trip has actually been planned for well over a year, was MY idea (so you can imagine how "thrilled" my relatives were when I was the one to back out), and I was the one who coordinated getting all 4 generations out there at the same time (to the town my grandparents are from and where their cousins etc, still live), the itinerary, etc, plus my family has been SOO amazingly supportive (my parents are even coming to Addis with us). So in the end we decided to do both. The fabulous part is Rome is the layover for Addis anyways so our travel agent was able to work it so we didn't pay any extra on our air tickets. Woohoo!!

Oh and the best part of all... Micah is legally and officially ours!!! For Ethiopia court takes place before travel, so he is 100% our little boy now!!!

AHHHHHHH.... YEAH!!!! Congrats on baby Micah... can't wait to see pics!!! Have an amazing trip!!!!!

How is everyone else doing?

That is wonderful news! Have a wonderful and safe trip! How cool that your parents will be able to see from where their grandson was born, too. My parents wanted to come with us to Russia, but after 9/11, they were afraid to fly.
