My neighbor next door got married last year. His new wife and her daughter moved in with him. He recently adopted her daughter (she is 12) and they are having an adoption party at a local park. We've gotten to know them somewhat. They live in the other half of our twin, so we are attached. We don't hang out, but we are cordial "over the fence".

My question is, do we bring a gift? What kind, how much, and who for? :confused3

I don't think a gift is required, but a small one might be a nice gesture. How about a small gift card to someplace they could go together as father/daughter/family? Mini-golf, movies, ice-cream parlor....or you could buy them a small photo album to put all their new memories in. Another idea...personalized ice-cream/popcorn bowls with "Mom", "Dad", "daughter's name" on them. I think llbean has them.

I would at least bring a card congratulating them.

I think that's very sweet all around, that he adopted her and that they are including you! :goodvibes

If you can afford it, a small gift would be a nice gesture. The daughter's adoption IS a celebration after all.

I love the dad-daughter date gift card idea...it's not too personal, but would be appreciated I think.

Or a frame that says daughter, you can take a picture of the two of them at the party and have it printed up afterward in the appropriate size to drop in their mailbox.

I think the "family gift" is a teriffic idea. You can even get them a gift cert to Blockbuster to rent some movies. Include a bucket of popcorn (the kind you put in microwave) and some candy. This way they can have a family night. Maybe a board game?

I dont think you "have to" bring a gift; but its such a beautiful ocassion, if you could, I would.

Hi Marcy! How about a gift cert to a round of mini golf at Putt U in Center Valley or to The Cup? Or to The Rave? Or a Yankee Candle :rotfl2: (I can hook you up there LOL!) All good ideas listed above too. I also think no gift is necessary, but I'd probably take a little something, under $20.

Good ideas everyone~ Thanks!

Tara...good thinking on The Cup! My favorite place to go! I was also thinking maybe a g.c. to The Boyd. It's walking distance from our houses, and the prices are SO cheap there!!
