If you are having serious doubts about this adoption, walk away. There will be another! Like others have said, you are not guaranteed a healthy baby even if you give birth to it. But possible legal issues and an open adoption with this birth mom may not make it worth it. I am speaking as an adoptive mom whose birth mom did drugs (cocaine, pot and cigarettes) and our first adoption didn't pan out. It's hard to walk away, I know!

Is this something she has actually been dx with? You say the interactions point to that. If she has not been dx by a physician, you really can't guess what might be going on.
